I qualify for Distant Networks from All-American Direct, but am reluctant to sign up if the picture quality is poor. I read earlier posts from dissatisfied subscribers and don't want to pay for a sub-standard picture. SD is fine, but I don't want to watch "ghosting" and have poor audio, too. Have the San Francisco and Atlanta feeds improved?

Picture quality is not as bad as many say. I have not had the service for more than a few days, but this is how it seems to me: (Compression seems to be less than my locals)

5738 KTVU/2 FOX - Color Good, Sound OK, Some Ghosting
5737 WAGU/5 FOX - Outstanding Picture, Great Sound, Slightly Better PQ Than My Local.
5736 KGO/7 ABC - Color Ok, Sound OK, Some Ghosting
5735 WSB/2 ABC - Great Picture, Great Sound, Much Better PQ Than My Local Which Has Terrible Ghosting.
5734 KPIX/5 CBS - Color Good, Sound Good, Slightly More Ghosting Than KTVU & KGO.
5733 WGCL/46 CBS - Color Good, Sound Terrible With A Tinny Sound & Too Loud, Better PQ Than My Local Which Almost Bleeds With Too Much Color.
5732 KNTV/11 NBC - Color OK, Sound OK, Picture Sometimes Looks A Little Deep Fringe (If it is uplinked in SF & Received VIA OTA From San Jose That May Be The Reason).
5731 WXIA/11 NBC - Color Great, Sound Great, About Equal PQ Of Local.

All in all I am happy with this service which will only get better with addition of the fiber optics to the uplink.

The first few days that AAD started selling, I was one of the first to complain about their poor multi path over the air reception.
It took a while, but their off air pickups have improved now to the point that considering the tall buildings from the two cities concerned, it is about as good as it will probably get now until they switch over to a direct fiber pickup.
I would advise you to sign up at this point.
