Receiver question

all hd receivers can. the 381, 811, 411, vip 211 222 622 722 612 all can. the legacy 6000 and vip222k require an optional module purchased seperately.

OK thanks guys. The reason I ask is I currently have Directv and their HD DVR as I understand it, uses local cities in their database...no scan option. :( My contract is up in a few months so I'm looking.

Sounds like you mean, D* supplies your HD locals and does not have the OTA option. I heard that one D* model (and I don't remember which it is) has OTA. All of E*'s HD dvr receivers have OTA built it, however the new 722k which should be coming in the next couple of weeks will allow two OTA channels at the same time via it's new module.

D* does offer locals in my area, but not HD locals...hence my OTA antena.

None of D*s current HD DVRs have OTA capabilities without an addon device.

BTW I once read that Dish doesnt require a contract. That still the case?
