Understandably receivers, and most likely parts, are recycled and reused. Therefore, it comes as no shock that after only 1 year with DirectTV my HR 24/100 is dying. It first started weeks ago with a loud whirling noise and last night I repeatedly received an overheating message. My receiver is well ventilated, so I knew it was time to call. I have the equipment protection, but what surprised me was that this was my first experience with Tech Support and all I can say is wow!!! Not only was the rep courteous, friendly, and completed a work order expeditiously, but he also called me back a minute after we got disconnected. Why, oh why, did I ever choose Dish for the first 4 years of my life when I initially went with Satellite tv??? Tech support like that speaks volumes to me especially when I did not have to try to understand someone from India who would have wasted 20 minutes of my time resetting, unplugging, and god knows what else to "fix" the problem. Thanks again DirectTV!!!!!!!
