I take your question to be more about some type of security measure so that people can't use one part of the system with a another system at a remote location. The answer to that is NO. Dish doesn't care what is connected to what system and what and what changes to the LNBF's or a separate dish, etc. You can mix and match equipment such as switches, LNBF's, dishes, cables, all equipment,
except your box is
related to your account and should be at the location it was installed except for a few instances where they will allow you to move your bo
es) to a 2nd location. So, it is the
box that is the
everything relating to "security", and not any of the other equipment.
What Dish DOES care about is that you are not splitting your Dish account at 2 different locations
AT THE SAME TIME. This sounds like the "leave wife at home with Dish service" part of your request, and this is not allowed. Dish keeps track of this via the telephone and Ethernet connection. If you currently don't have your boxes connected to either phone or internet, than Dish most likely won't catch this. But if you are connected to phone or Ethernet, you could have problems. The more boxes on your account, the more Dish is concerned about this kind of activity. Dish starts to get interested with accounts that have more than 2 boxes.
What you want to do is called Account Stacking: spiting your account between 2 locations
at the same time for use by you or a 3rd party, and that is a violation of the Residential Agreement, and if Dish discovers this, they will shut you down, and their attitude will be that your were trying to rip them off, not good treatment, in other words. They will then either require you to open a 2nd account (all forgiven now that they will be getting the extra $$) or reactivate you with the one account, but they may require that you MUST have a telephone or Ethernet connection on all your boxes at all times. Remember it would be you who violated the contract, and you would have no recourse, they can close your account and kick you out (excommunicated from Dish
), demand the return of any equipment that you do not own, require the payment of remaining commitment --if you have one--for early termination with no loss to them, and Dish has done this to those who do not come to terms. It is probably the only thing--account stacking, and I suppose piracy--that
REALLY ticks off Charlie.
However, Dish does offer you the option of taking your box to a 2nd location such as a cabin, using your account there, but they will shut down your boxes at home. Then you notify Dish you have returned home, and they will reactivate your account there. OR you can have 2 accounts, one at each location, and when you are not using the cabin location, for example, you can have dish put it into a kind of "hibernation". For a small fee per month (it used to be about $5-$10 per month), Dish will deactivate the cabin boxes, but keep that account open for your return to the cabin when you call Dish to reactivate the cabin boxes. There may be solutions to this from other members of this board.
