reading and learning True South??

Is using my true south so I can lock on to the closest satelitte to my longitude?

I am at 80.058 looks like 79degrees is the closest sat.

I am going to buy and try to set up one receiver. If I am able to figure it out and get it working, I will get a second receiver. Should I buy the qph-031 that i read good things about on these forums?

Your true south satellite is the same as your longitude, AMC-5 is at 79ºw

I use the QPH-031 and LOVE it!

Will work for both Linear AND Circular satellites and has a total of four outputs, two of each so would be real easy to hook up a 2nd receiver! I use a 2 way DiSEqC switch to bring both Linear and Circular signals down one cable to the receiver!

Thanks, Need to do a lot of homework but am finally starting to figure some of this out. So many units to choose from, trying to narrow it down. Looks like a lot of the pros are using Winegard. and sg2100 motor. Pansat 3500st seems to be popular as well. I believe I need a receiver that is pretty user friendly.

The most user friendly receivers (IMO) are
-Coolsat 5000
-Pansat 3500
-Fortec Classic

all 3 very easy to work with
