First of all, Happy Holidays to all of our friends here at Satellite Guys!

1. There is something warm and cozy about watching a football game in the snow, or a Monday Night game where the temperature is like zero degrees, from your warm couch.

2. Can someone please take Eric Mangini's pulse? I fear the man is a drone who has been placed here by Patriot fans from another planet. I see more emotion from my Christmas tree.

3. Brett Favre is another emotionless guy on the Jets sideline. Between the two of them their body language looks exactly like the Jets are playing...like they've given up.

4. I may have to amend my declaration that this is the Cav's year. Boston just seems unstoppable...at least in December.

5. Is there anybody out there who WANTS the Lions to lose that 16th game? Not me.

6. Wow, lots of sports not in HD last night. Lakers/Grizzlies, Coyotes/Oilers, Ducks/Canucks. I feel like I need glasses now.

7. The Texeira and Ramirez free agent soap operas have more drama than some of the threads here at Satellite Guys! Seems like Boros, or Manny, or the teams always want to get in the last word...grow up already!!! :D

8. Nice of me to put that whammy on the Nuggets last week, when I announced they had put some space between themselves and the Blazers and Jazz. The space is almost gone!

9. Is your shopping done? I was at a mall last night and it wasn't ridiculously crowded. Just crowded. I don't know if that's good or bad.

10. I hope parents are paying attention to what their teen and pre-teen daughters are wearing these days. My nieces and nephews are athletes and they look, act, and dress like athletes. So do their girlfriends. Or at least they're all respectable. Some of the girls I saw last night should really re-think their wardrobe. Oh my, exactly when did I turn into my mother?!? :)

11. Boise St - TCU tonight in the Poinsietta Bowl is the first must-see bowl game of the season. The next one is the Oklahoma St - Oregon Holiday Bowl matchup next Tuesday.

12. Only two bowl games I really care about New Year's Day, the Rose and Orange. Looks like I'll be watching outdoor hockey in the early afternoon and peek in at the other bowl games.

13. The Texas Stadium 'celebration' after the bitter defeat of Cowboys by the Ravens reminded me of the Shea Stadium celebration right after the Mets were bounced out of the playoffs by the Marlins.

14. Some Lincoln/Kennedy type comparisons between the Mets and Jets this year. Riding high for a while, crashing back to earth only to receive new life, then crashing on their own once again. A team from Miami comes here and ends the Mets' season, and the same can happen to the Jets. I really feel bad for those who are fans of both teams.

15. WWAD? What will Avery do? I still say the best (and perhaps only) fit for him is the Rangers, although a lot would have to happen for that to come to fruition. The Stars would have to take some of Sather's ridiculous contract signings (Redden or Rozsival...or hopefully both) off the Rangers' hands.

16. When did Adrian Peterson turn into a fumble machine?

17. Greg Oden looks facially like he could be Kobe Bryant's grandfather.

18. It was weird catching up with Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo and Mike Conley of the Grizzlies last night. I tend to not watch many games of bad teams (except when they play teams like the Lakers or Celtics), so it's almost like those guys fall off the map for me. Same thing for Kevin Love of the T-Wolves. Is he playing?

19. Wow, Baron Davis must have really been important to the Warriors, huh? Now they can't even get out of their own way. Actually, the biggest problem was bringing in me-first Cory Magette to replace Davis's points. I would never want a guy like Magette on my team.

20. The Yankees have to pay a luxury tax. Yawn. Yankee fans do not care even slightly.

21. IF Eric Mangini survives as coach...a very big if...Romeo Crennel should be the defensive coordinator next year.

22. Is boxing still a sport?

23. Stephen A Smith filling in for Mike and Mike in the morning is a tough listen. Never does one person say so little so loudly.

24. Regardless how you feel about Chizik's hiring at Auburn, I think we can all agree he has about a zero chance to succeed. Everybody is annoyed for one reason or another. It's like reading the Satellite Guys sports forum! ;)

25. I didn't enjoy Casino as much as I wanted to. It was good, I'm glad I watched it, but it wasn't great. Maybe it was Joe Pesci doing a Chicago accent that threw me, I don't know.

26. Blood Diamond on the other hand...excellent movie. Very exciting. Amazing acting by Leonardo Dicaprio and Djimon Hansou. Jennifer Connelly was good, but I'm sure when she's on screen you guys pay attention to things besides her acting.

27. My favorite TV shows from 2008: Entourage, Dexter, Californication, Friday Night Lights, 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, Lost, Project Runway, The Shield, Mad Men, John Adams, Generation Kill, Wipeout, Inside the NFL, Little People Big World, Pushing Daisies, The Wire. No spoilers please, with all of the sports I watch I'm still way behind on some of them. My DVR seems to fill up quickly, then I have to start watching.

28. I'm starting to not like these NFL referee crews who stand there and look at each other and don't make a call in a lot of situations. Then they meet and decide later.

29. Manny Ramirez on the Yankees would take a lot of pressure off A-Rod, in more ways than one.

30. Everyone please have a safe and Happy Holiday, and a wonderful 2009.

2. Can someone please take Eric Mangini's pulse? I fear the man is a drone who has been placed here by Patriot fans from another planet. I see more emotion from my Christmas tree.

What is it with ex-Patriot Coordinators? They all have the same demeanor. Everything you describe fits the description of RAC perfectly.

3. Brett Favre is another emotionless guy on the Jets sideline. Between the two of them their body language looks exactly like the Jets are playing...like they've given up.

I kinda feel bad for Favre. He just doesn't seem to fit right in NYC. He doesn't seem to be having fun either like he did in his past days with Green Bay.

4. I may have to amend my declaration that this is the Cav's year. Boston just seems unstoppable...at least in December.

Flip-Flop all you want. If both teams stay healthy, it will come down to these 2 teams in the Eastern Conference Final. Both teams look better than last year, but I will argue the Cavs got better than the Celtics. And remember, last year the Cavs took the Celts to 7 games before losing in the final seconds WITHOUT Daniel Boobie Gibson (injured) and BEFORE the Mo Williams trade.

This season we finally have a legitamite point guard in Mo Williams and Delonte West is back at his natural position at the SG. Remember how well Delonte fit at the SG with Jameer Nelson at the Point back in his St. Joes days? If eveyone else stays healthy, this will be an awesome battle.

6. Wow, lots of sports not in HD last night. Lakers/Grizzlies, Coyotes/Oilers, Ducks/Canucks. I feel like I need glasses now.

If my team isn't involved, I won't watch if it's in SD. How we survived before HD I haven't a clue.

9. Is your shopping done? I was at a mall last night and it wasn't ridiculously crowded. Just crowded. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Still have to get a few stocking stuffers for the old lady.

11. Boise St - TCU tonight in the Poinsietta Bowl is the first must-see bowl game of the season.

I agree. Should be a good one.

13. The Texas Stadium 'celebration' after the bitter defeat of Cowboys by the Ravens reminded me of the Shea Stadium celebration right after the Mets were bounced out of the playoffs by the Marlins.

Kind of, but different. The Mets were eliminated that day. The 'Boys are still somehow in the playoff run, so there is still hope. Either way, not a good way to go out on your last game. I think this is why the Yanks scheduled the feeble Orioles for their last series at old Yankee Stadium.

You just want Avery to steal all the hot hockey babes away from your boy Hank.

21. IF Eric Mangini survives as coach...a very big if...Romeo Crennel should be the defensive coordinator next year.

I hope that was a joke. Have you seen a single Browns games these last 4 years? What exactly has RAC done for you to consider him a candidate for a D.C. Coach? Just because RAC was a byproduct of the Belickick regime, doesn't make him good. These last 4 years proved that RAC rode on BB's coat tails and he can't really coach on his own. He has no concept of defense whatsoever.

23. Stephen A Smith filling in for Mike and Mike in the morning is a tough listen. Never does one person say so little so loudly.

I know. Waking up to Stephen A. was not a pleasant experience this morning. What a headache!

25. I didn't enjoy Casino as much as I wanted to. It was good, I'm glad I watched it, but it wasn't great. Maybe it was Joe Pesci doing a Chicago accent that threw me, I don't know.

Not among the tops in Mob Movies, but very decent. I watched The Godfather on Blu-Ray yesterday. Now that was a classic!

29. Manny Ramirez on the Yankees would take a lot of pressure off A-Rod, in more ways than one.

While A-Rod and Manny would be a helluva 3-4 combo, I don't see too much more in the Yankees offense that scares me.

30. Everyone please have a safe and Happy Holiday, and a wonderful 2009.

You do the same.

5. Me. A woman from Detroit called in to a radio show yesterday and said, "The Lions could have been killed at the beginning of the season and they would have ended up winning the same amount of games as they did when alive." I've never seen a team go winless before (even though I know it's happened) and I think Detroit needs to REALLY hit rock bottom before they can climb back up.

9. Almost. One last thing I need for my best friend that I get to buy on the way home from work today

13. I love when bad stuff happens to Dallas. Not so much with the Mets though.

22. Hardly

23. I'm listening to "The History of Howard Stern" and nowadays the only sports radio guy I can tolerate is Scott Ferrall.

25. I thought it was a decent movie, but it's just too long. After that slot machine guy gets fired the movie turns into an endurance test.

28. If you like Wipeout, you should watch the show it rips off, Most Extreme Challenge (MXC) on Spike TV.

Wow, I didn't know the Cavs had a buy named Boobie. I think that means I have to root for him and the Cavs now! It's the law. ;) :D

I have seen MXC and it's pretty good. I prefer to use the word 'homage' rather than ripoff though. Some things, like the people screaming nonsense before they start, comes directly from MXC. But some things are purely Wipeout, like the Big Balls and the Water challenge at the end. And the two hosts are much funnier than MXC's hosts.

Sandra

Yeah, a few years ago when Boobie made a name for himself ('07 Eastern Conference Final against Detroit), a bunch of "Got Boobie" shirts emerged around the Q. It was great!

#5 - Most of Detroit, believe it or not. It takes a serious effort to be this bad. Anybody can do 1-15, but 0-16 is the stuff legends are made of. Maybe just as hard as 16-0?

#9 - Did our shopping last night - like shopping in a ghost town. It is THAT bad here in Detroit. Trust me, you have no idea just how bad things are in Motown.

Enjoy your holidays Sandra.

How could it get any lower?

I'm sorry, but I'll take Kenny Blankenship and Vic Romano over John Henson and John Henderson any day.

The challenges in the end may be different, but there are a LOT of other events that are direct copies of MXC, or rather, Takeshi's Castle. In fact the creators of Takeshi's Castle have sued ABC over the show.
Japanese broadcaster sues ABC over 'Wipeout'--The Live Feed

Even SpikeTV publicly said how the show was a rip off.
Spike TV knocks 'Wipeout' as an 'MXC' ripoff--The Live Feed

Look at the following video if you need more evidence. I mean when I first saw the ads for Wipeout the first thing I thought was, "Oh, are they bringing MXC back?"

Anyways I don't want to hijack the thread over a long cancelled Japanese game show and a soon to be cancelled ABC game show. That's all I say about all this.

First of all, Happy Holidays to all of our friends here at Satellite Guys!

1. There is something warm and cozy about watching a football game in the snow, or a Monday Night game where the temperature is like zero degrees, from your warm couch.

I agree nothing like it...Espcially in crystal clear HD

4. I may have to amend my declaration that this is the Cav's year. Boston just seems unstoppable...at least in December.

Well it may be....Its not the piston year

5. Is there anybody out there who WANTS the Lions to lose that 16th game? Not me.

Yes we do. I look at this as the ultimate punishment to an ownership that turns everything to coal, I am hosting a party on sunday to Celebrate 0-16!!

I agree...but I also say they the same thing as we get older...we start to sound like our parents

11. Boise St - TCU tonight in the Poinsietta Bowl is the first must-see bowl game of the season. The next one is the Oklahoma St - Oregon Holiday Bowl matchup next Tuesday.

Should be a good one

12. Only two bowl games I really care about New Year's Day, the Rose and Orange. Looks like I'll be watching outdoor hockey in the early afternoon and peek in at the other bowl games.

Ah yes, Wings/Hawks should be a good one

13. The Texas Stadium 'celebration' after the bitter defeat of Cowboys by the Ravens reminded me of the Shea Stadium celebration right after the Mets were bounced out of the playoffs by the Marlins.

Yes...NFL teams going crazy over a win....See Titans

16. When did Adrian Peterson turn into a fumble machine?

17. Greg Oden looks facially like he could be Kobe Bryant's grandfather.

20. The Yankees have to pay a luxury tax. Yawn. Yankee fans do not care even slightly.

"The luxury Tax" That almost works...LOL

23. Stephen A Smith filling in for Mike and Mike in the morning is a tough listen. Never does one person say so little so loudly.

I agree...more insight...Less yelling

30. Everyone please have a safe and Happy Holiday, and a wonderful 2009.

You to...Should be an intresting 09, on a sports front and a social one

2. Can someone please take Eric Mangini's pulse? I fear the man is a drone who has been placed here by Patriot fans from another planet. I see more emotion from my Christmas tree.

OK, now Mangini has got MY pulse going. This morning, at a press conference, he said they started preparing for the Dolphin game last week. LAST WEEK!!!

They took time out of their preparations for Seattle to focus on the Dolphins. And you know what? The way the team played in Seattle totally proves this out.

This is one of the more bizarre statements in the history of statements.

Sandra

1 - I love football in bad weather. BUT, until just a few years ago, the NFL always made sure that the final few weeks' night games were in domes or Florida or California, and played all playoff games in the daytime. Something bad is going to happen someday.

2 & 3 - Jets are a bad team that over-achieved in a bad division.

5 - The NFL PTBs do not. Hopefully the Lions will be sold to compentent ownership when FoMoCo goes under.

11 - Its a shame that these good teams are put into pre-Christmas bowls while fellow mid-majors from the Leastleftovers are put into undeserved major bowls.

12 - The BcS has killed New Year's Day bowls. I'm watching the hockey and the rerun of the parade.

13 - The Cowboys deserve to lose every game from now to the end of time. Texas Stadium was a dump that was misdesigned (the hole in the roof was because the roof could not support the planned dome) and was plagued by mold and dankness, which the TV hype machine never reported. I hope they lose.

22 - I am not a fan of Big Government, but some kind of authority needs to take over boxing and have ONE and ONLY ONE true champion and a legitimate list of contenders in each historical weight class (none of this super this and light that). If not for greed HBO, Showtime and ESPN could simply agree to self-regulation and that would be that. Boxing will stink until most people know who "the champ" is.

23 - I dislike Smith very much. But I like Kusalias (sp?) very much so its a mixed bag. With the SSR-XM merger, I am now torn between M&M and Rivals Radio on Mad Dog. Rivals is a really good show.

24 - Auburn made a huge mistake. Huge. Appears to be booster driven. They will not be heard from for a very long time.

25 - Casino is one of my all time favorite movies, but you have to watch the unedited version to get it.

27 - You know, 15 years from now, what will channels like TBS and TV Land show? There is no good filmed entertainment being made anymore.

30 - Dittos.

2. Can someone please take Eric Mangini's pulse? I fear the man is a drone who has been placed here by Patriot fans from another planet. I see more emotion from my Christmas tree.
He's not as drone-tastic as Belichick or Greg Popovich- they're the gold standard for boringness among coaches.

5. Is there anybody out there who WANTS the Lions to lose that 16th game? Not me.
Me. I saw 16-0 on TV last year. I will get Lions/Packers as an early game. I have seen nearly everything there is to see in sports I thought would never happen- Rangers, Red Sox, and White Sox break their droughts- and a winless season would be one of them.

7. The Texeira and Ramirez free agent soap operas have more drama than some of the threads here at Satellite Guys! Seems like Boros, or Manny, or the teams always want to get in the last word...grow up already!!! :D
Trust me- those soap operas were NOTHING compared to Favre-gate in the summer.

8. Nice of me to put that whammy on the Nuggets last week, when I announced they had put some space between themselves and the Blazers and Jazz. The space is almost gone!
That is not an easy division, as opposed to the Atlantic, where it's Boston and five midgets.

12. Only two bowl games I really care about New Year's Day, the Rose and Orange. Looks like I'll be watching outdoor hockey in the early afternoon and peek in at the other bowl games.
So, you're not going to watch tOSU in the Fiesta Bowl? It would give you more ammunition to complain about Sweatervest.:D

Reminds me of Calvin Johnson of the Lions or that cornerback on the Raiders salsa raves about with a hard-to-pronounce last name- great players on teams going nowhere!

19. Wow, Baron Davis must have really been important to the Warriors, huh? Now they can't even get out of their own way. Actually, the biggest problem was bringing in me-first Cory Magette to replace Davis's points. I would never want a guy like Magette on my team.
Warriors sold their souls to Satan to beat Dallas in 2007- this season is proving that was a one-time FLUKE!

23. Stephen A Smith filling in for Mike and Mike in the morning is a tough listen. Never does one person say so little so loudly.
Better than some of the boring and dry sports guys I see on TV.

24. Regardless how you feel about Chizik's hiring at Auburn, I think we can all agree he has about a zero chance to succeed. Everybody is annoyed for one reason or another. It's like reading the Satellite Guys sports forum! ;)
Somehow, voters thought, prior to the season, they'd be better than Texas or Texas Tech. I TOLD you they were overrated!

29. Manny Ramirez on the Yankees would take a lot of pressure off A-Rod, in more ways than one.
As we saw in 2006 and 2007, having a galaxy of great hitting means NOTHING if you can't pitch. That's why they got Burnett and C.C.

30. Everyone please have a safe and Happy Holiday, and a wonderful 2009.
All I want for Christmas is a picture of yourself!
