R22 setup

I have a R22 that I can not get to install. When I purchased the unit I was living in a apartment building that shared on dish. A tech had to come out and set the DVR up for us. When he got everything working he told my wife that he had locked the settings so we would not loose them. I am now trying to install the unit using my own dish at a new location. When the power is turned on the receiver goes straight to finding the sat with out giving me the option to set what style dish I have. DTV says everything should have reset and they need to send out a tech ( for a fee of course ). Is it possible to LOCK the settings? If so how do I get back to the basic install options?

Hit the menu button and go to Fav and Set up and then System Set up. You can enter it there. Mine was installed sat and the installer got into old happen and went back in to change my set up.
