Questions about The Hopper?

Right now, I have a 722k and a 922k. I am able to stream aka download simultaneously movies on both TVs connected to the 722k. Works great, can be slow at times and has had the occasional buffering. I just want to make sure the software is available in a couple weeks when its finally released.

.... would I need to run Ethernet cables from both the hopper and joeys for broadband connection? Thanks.

The Joey Ethernet connection is for future use, it is not active now. A single connection to the Hopper will be used throughout the H & Js.

That's too simple to possibly be the right way to do things ;) I kid, I kid.

Satellite to Duo node.

Prior to hopper integration:
Duo node to Tap.
Tap feeds one side to Hopper and feeds a splitter to 2 Joeys on the other side.
Repeat Tap for "other" H/J grouping.

After hopper integration:
Duo node feeds to Hoppers.
MoCA network feeds to Joeys.

Sweet!

Assuming that Dish will in fact update the Hoppers to see each other shortly after release, is there any reason to go with a 1 Hopper, 2 Joey setup over a 2 Hopper, 1 Joey setup?

The only reason I can think of is the avoidance of future fees (since I wouldn't be surprised to see an increase on the 2nd Hopper), but am I missing something else?

Up front cost is the only thing I can think of since you will be paying for the equipment.
True, but that is a small price to pay for 3 more tuners.

In a multiple Hopper setup, can the Joey see both Hoppers seamlessly? I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Does the Joey see the recordings from both Hoppers as if it is one seamless system, or can it only see one Hopper at a time?

At release the Hoppers won't be seamlessly integrated and will appear as two separate units. Dish has stated that a software upgrade will be available in the future that provides seamless integration.

Right, but my question was from a Joey standpoint. Can the Joey see both of them and, if so, how does it switch between them?

The joey can be paired with one hopper at first. After they come up with seemless integration it will see both hoppers as one big unit. To quote the instruction manual that I got online:

*At product launch, Joeys can only access the DVR features and tuners from one hopper. The ability for two hoppers to share DVR functionality and tuners will be available ........wait for it.........wait for it.....SSSSSSOOOOOONNNNN!!!!*;)

Just for informative purposes there is no"k" after 922.:)

That said Welcome to the Forum!.:welcome

Main question is the 'animals' ready to go from its zookeeper to our homes ?

Seems to me is not.

Last night they made new FW S2.02 - it would be third update of H-J for the week (!). Duh !

Well, we'll know soon. Sure we have early adopters here who would love to test it out and report.

as long as wiring goes back to the same node and you swap the connections, then it should work.

It's really no different than moving the joey to a different room if the wiring is all set up.

Just remember to terminate the unused coax or port on the node.
