Question regarding 222 vs 222k

sailwind, are you clear now about the fees. Especially the part about NONE if you only have one activated receiver?

I think so. If I simply deactivate the old 322 and activate new 222 (without HD programming), I should not be charged any additional fees and I can keep all the programming the same as is, right?

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Just a simple upgrade so I have HDMI for my Pioneer KRP-600M and a HD tuner combined into one box. Awesome.

The craigslist 222 did not have remotes, so now I'm back to square one. Looks like 222 is going for about $110 and 222k for $150 with the OTA module.

So with these receivers dish have to upgrade the round dish as well? Man, better not be another charge.

You could just buy replacement remotes.

Personally, I would never by a used receiver from an individual. Rather, look for refurbs from a dealer. Better yet, new in the box.

Yeah, but at $75 + $30 remote I might as well buy a new set from ebay.

So what do you guys think? $110 for 722 or $150 for 722k with OTA?
If you can get one that cheap, it must be broken, or stolen.
If your going to spend that You might as well call Dish and lease one of theirs.
Atleast you won't have to worry whether it can be activated or not.

Did you mean 222 and 222K? The 722s are Dvrs. Also, IIRC, all packages now have locals, and with the ota you do not get program data without having locals on dish. I would go with the 222k with ota module.

If you are looking for a DVR, then you need 722 or 722k, the k verison can also use the same ota module, but that will add $6 dvr fee to your account.

While I do think all "K" series boxes do have a slight PQ improvement, the thing to keep in mind about the "K" boxes is that they already have built in the Sling features that all it to either to Sling HD using the as yet unreleased Dish/Sling device that looks like a waffle. The "K's are a bit more future-proof.

I just called dish and talked with a couple of representatives. They say the HD receiver upgrade would be free (though they can't guarantee which receiver) but it'll cost $95 for the technician to upgrade new dishes. Does this sound right? Kab mentioned the dishes upgrade should be free.

What are the chances that I'll get the 222k vs 222 when they upgrade my leased receiver? Thx.

Well, three years ago when I got my initial HD setup and last summer to get a new dish to get my locals, it was free.
