I recently subscribed to DishNetwork and had them install dish and the hardware. I have a Hi-Def DVR and a Hi-Def receiver.

Hi-Def DVR is connected to Hi-Def TV and in another room via SD reception.
I want to be able to take my other Hi-Def receiver into the other room and use it for Hi-Def rather than SD, What do I need to do to do this?

Second Hi-Def receiver is in the basement. I want to extend this connection and add another receiver, can I do this by using a splitter? If not, how can I do this.

Thanks for the advice and information you can provide.

If you're moving the 211 to another room (room 3), you need to have a cable coming from the dish to that room (room 3) to feed the 211. The current cable that goes to that room (room 3) is coming from where the 622 is (room 1). If you could reroute the cable that goes to room 2 to room 3, you're in business.

So, I am going to need new cable from the dish for a new connection?, Ok if that is case how do I run the new cable (I am new at this, so if this sounds dumb, that is because I am clueless). Do I use a switch of some sort? I believe I have a dish 500 plus and a standard dish ( I am not sure how the installer has combined the signals from these).

Thanks

"All DISH 500+ will need to be installed with a DP 34 switch or DPP44."

You should have a switch already if you have the 500+. You should have either one or two ports available depending on what switch you have. All you need to do is run a cable from the switch to the receiver.

Go to Menu, 6, 1, 3 to get to the Sys Info screen. What do you have in the H box? It will display the configuration you have.

I just checked

H box: has Device: DPP Twin, Twin(1), Twin(2), Dual(3). By this can you guess what switch I have?

Since you have the HD package, this sounds like a 500 dish with a DPP Twin and a wing dish with a DP Dual.

Basically take one of the outputs from the 500 dish and run a cable to where you want the receiver located. If you can, just move the cable from where you have the receiver right now to where you want it.

In the attached picture how do I add another Tuner/Receiver? Since both the connections from the DPP twin are used.

You'll need a switch to add more receivers. You'll need a Dpp44 switch and it will give you 4 outputs but they are expensive $180. A 1000.2 dish will give you 3 outputs and they cost $89.

Thanks for all your help. I will decide which way to go in a week or so. If I run into any issues I will be back with more questions. Thanks Again.

Are both the connections from the DPP Twin going to the dual tuners in your 622? It should be hooked up with only one cable into a DPP Separator (looks like an oversized spliiter) I think. That would give you the extra line from your DPP Twin to your 211

He currently has two receivers, a 211 and the 622. He needs a switch or a 1000.2 that has 3 outputs.

I got a switch DPP44 and will be installing it this weekend. Is there anything in particular that I should be aware of?

Do I take the feeds from both the dish and feed it to the switch or just the feeds from the DP Plus dish? and let the feed from other dish still be connected to DP plus.

Is there anything I need to do to the receivers?

What bobabird said. Also, you must put the power inserter on port 1. Even if you don't have a receiver on port 1. Only 2A rated diplexers on port 1.

Installed switch it's working fine. I had to go into the receiver and do a test switch for the receiver to recognize the switch, once that was done signal came back and started working fine.

Hey bud, I'm a Dish Network Installer

I didnt read all the way through the replys.. did you ever get your rooms switched out the way you want them? If you still have not or did and are having problems let me know, I know the sys very well and can help in doing so.
