question about retention

is there a direct number that you can call or do you have to go through the whole deal with an animated voice and then a csr that usually cant do anything for.
 
nope, not anymore. either you need a csr to transfer you or get a PIN. you also have the option of emailing directv about problems and hope they refer your email to retention. then they will tell you someone will call back within 24 to 48 hours. and they do.
 
i don't know if this works all the time or not. but i called in and said "CANCEL" and i was immediately sent to a retentions specialist. but that may have just been an accident.

i ended up getting the farm from them including free dvr, $20/mo off my bill, $150 service credit, free superfans, free hbo/showtime/cinemax/starz, etc. so he was the real deal.
