Question about maps after MR

One problem I see here while doing the MR on w5.... After defaults there is no w5 tile. should I just use w1?

Not at my receiver right now but I believe so, I wrote it on a post some time back around here when the A1 icon was just being tested & I did post which sats then came off of the hits channels after a MR.

it should change to W5 automatically give it time.
sort of like the G9 to G0 deal when you do an MR on the new GO sat.

A few months back I did a MR while on W5.

After rebooting the receiver and going to the reset sat limits I then programmed in all the available satellites that were there. They were as follows.

S2 - G6 - S3 – T4 – G7 – X7 – G3 -

T5 – G4 – S4 – W1 – A2 – E2 – M1 –

M2 – G9 – G5 – C3 – G1 – C4 – C1

Since W5 was not on the list I tuned to G9-18 on the 921 receiver since that was on my list of available satellites to choose from.
After a minute or two the 921 received a digital lock on G9-18 and a few minutes later the screen blinked a couple of times. When it did this the receiver no longer was showing G9 but it was now showing (G0).

Channel count from (options- 6-5) after a master rest was 490

So as of testing Anik give a few more birds thats it. Nothing like G1 and no generics. I will keep my current maps since not only generics are there but all the current 4D channels are mapped so if something goes ITC next year it's easy to spot. It's a crock that we can't set up the 4D like a DVB receiver through the remote. The more I think about what NPS and Motorola is getting away with the more I wish I never bought my 4D and payed NPS all those years. I could have got a commercial 4800 to play with.

The kicker part is I payed $576 for my 4D from Skyvision in 2006. Thats 4 years of use. I payed $1500 for my Monterey in 90 and used it to 2006. If I swap the battery and get a replacement remote (remote is toast) I can use it and program in anything I want. Not with the 4D I'm at the mercy of the big M that gives a crap about supporting a product that is not even in my case reached it's end of lifespan. And who do we have to blame, NPS and Mikes buddy Charlie. I'm disgusted, I doubt I will ever buy anything with the Motorola name on it again. If I do I won't spend more than 25 bucks.

This would be ok IF g9 tp 18 stays hot with dc2 maps and data... Does'nt look like its worth it..
Half of these tiles I've never heard of but I suppose you could assign then to anything in the arc.

S2 - G6 - S3 – T4 – G7 – X7 – G3 -

T5 – G4 – S4 – W1 – A2 – E2 – M1 –

M2 – G9 – G5 – C3 – G1 – C4 – C1

These are the stock tiles I believe in the 4D. They use very old satellite names. Being in C band satellite so long I know those names well, I even remember older ones like Satcom 3 and 4 (F3 and F4) The original W5 was Westar 5 at 125 west replaced by Galaxy 5, now G-14.

I have been forced to do MRs on X4 after converting....

W1 exists but there are no DC channesl (just 1-24 transponders), and T7 is also gone. did anyone check to see if the Shaw maps include DC channels on sats like W1?

As long as they have DC channels defined at least we could relock the Denver nets on W1 if they become available. Tuning G9-1 after a reset will lock X4 maps. However I don't know if
the change of providers may change whether we CAN lock Shaw now.

Shaw does not include any digital channels except theirs. They do add a few other satellites though. The problem with a MR now is all digital mapping is lost except for X4. If the Denver channels become available they will be mapped in I'm sure. Right now were SOL if we do a MR until something else happens like 4Play or we get get Comcast to give us our old Motorola maps back.

Thanks.. I guess that at least they have the G0 -C4 Maps because after download I can get digital locks on all the western arc sats.
