Question about Daily/Nitely Updates !

I have a Question about Daily /Nitely updates.I live in a house that pretty much has the TV on at odd times of the day and nite.There are times we are watching a program(usually a Movie) and the system wants to do its daily update and its asks if you want to do this now,alot of times if we are into what we are watching we will cancel daily update.Question is if you cancel daily update the next time it does an update does it catch up from the day you didnt update.Is there anyway to cancel update and do them manually.
I am getting kind of annoyed having my programs interupted as it doesnt seem to matter if I set update to 3am or any other time,I simply dont know when I will be watching TV daily and setting it for a certain time doesnt always work out the best.
Any ideas or advice would be helpful.
(I know my household watches alot of TV ,no lectures please!)

It's mostly to update the channel guide and to flush the system. This also can be done by doing a check switch. I don't know what else they do during the scheduled update. Maybe somone else knows the nitty gritty.

You can change the update time under 'Preferences' then 'Updates' .

That update-time setting is (menu-8-4).
If you want to force an "daily" update, just press and hold the inside-the-front-panel power button for 8 sec. The check switch method may be better for forcing a guide update but otherwise it just does the "soft" reset like the power button. A "hard" reset is to pull the power plug for 20 sec or so.

Get a Dish 722 DVR, then you can watch tv and the program of your choice when you want and skip those awful commercials.
