QAM INSTALLATION HELP

I need help getting to the QAM setup screen on a Dish Hopper DVR/IRD. I live in a distributed-signal building, the company that runs it is pretty much useless when it comes to tech support and the Dish tech support people won't talk to me because they're contractually obligated to refer me to the local distributor (who, again, is useless).

They gave me a 722 box which, apart from evidently coming from the school of hard knocks based on the scuffs and dents on the case, has numerous problems including the tendency to overheat if my thermostat is at any time set above -20degF. This being the third box they're brought me, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and having read many positive things about the Hopper I decided to buy my own unit and simply use their access card.

Problem is, I can't get to the QAM Setup screen. The unit will simply power up, perform a switch test, try to tune a transponder, then it recycles and the fun starts all over again. The remote doesn't seem to be communicating with it at all. When I go hit menu to the access panel I get to view and navigate the menu just long enough to briefly view the "dish point" menu before the unit recycles again.

When the unit powers up it tries to tune Echostar 199W transponder 19. From the old 722 box I know it has to tune Echostar 129W transponder 19 at frequency 549, with scan range 447 to 861. Is there anyone who could provide me with instructions as to how to navigate the menus so I can tune this IRD properly?? Thanks!!

I was unaware the Hopper or ViP722 had QAM.

I will ask DIRT to help you.

Can you put a dish on your balcony and just signup with a different address to avoid the POC system?
