Purchased Joey 4 - Dish Charges

If I bought a Joey 4 on Ebay, just for grins so I can watch some shows in our enclosed porch every once in a while, is the $5.00/month charge a rental charge or a usage/broadcast charge? In other words, will they still stick me for $5 even if the Joey X (3 or 4) is owned by me? Thanks.

I don't mind trying out the Joey 4, I can download the APK files myself on the Hopper.

While I cant speak for the J4 (I'm on both a owned J3 and J4K), you get charged the $5 regardless of owning the receivers or not. This is in contrast to the $7 it costs to lease the Joey directly. You do get the benefit of being able to enable/disable the receivers online at will, however.
