Comming up in the next few months my dish network promotion prices will end. I am certainly not going to pay full price. What did you guys do when your promotion price ended?

You're either going to pay full price for the remainder of your contract or you're going to pay a hefty fee for breaking the contract. You do have the option of going to a cheaper programming package, like Dish Family. You can also cancel the DHPP warranty. That would save you a few dollars every month.

My bill will jump from $98 to $120/mo. That is not worth the service im getting. I know when i had cable before i could call and get back on the promotion price after complaining enough. Also when i signed up for dish there was a option to pay 40 or 50$(one time fee) and not be on a contract.

Did you pay that amount to not be locked into a contract? If so, then you could move to another provider. If not, sorry to say, but you'll either have to drop programming so you get to a $$$ level you are comfortable paying, or suck it up and pay the $120 a month. Dish is not going to have any motivation or incentive to continue your promotional pricing if you're stuck in a contract for several more months.

You should have signed an 18MO. contract which means you have about 6 mo. left. Drop to a more affordable package or pay the early termination fee and return the leased equipment seem to be the only options.:mad::mad::mad: What did you expect when you signed up as a customer?

He's pretty clearly stated that he expected to be able to negotiate a continuation of promo pricing like he's been able to do with his cable company in the past.

With cable tho there is no contract so you can leave at any time. I suspect he can probably haggle once his commitment is over.

Well i dont think i have a commitment because i did not choose to be in the 18 month contract, i paid extra to not have it. Has anyone here been able to haggle the price back to a promotion?

From what I've read here - and other place - I get the impression that cable companies are more willing to negotiate on price with existing customers than Dish. Perhaps that's because most cable packages are significantly more expensive than most Dish packages. I've never played the game of trying to negotiate a lower price, but from what I've heard from those that have, you better be serious about leaving if you don't get the deal you want, and have specifics on what you would be paying if you switched to another provider. (The cable company may have given you a better deal because they knew you were seriously considering Dish - and apparently their deal wasn't good enough, because you switched anyway.)
Personally, I hate the promotional come-ons. The promotional period ends quickly, and then you face a higher price or the hassle of trying to negotiate a better deal. I just want the company to tell me the true price up front. One of the reasons I don't want to switch to cable in my area is that Comcast only tells you the promotional price, and trying to find out what the price will be after the promotional period is like trying to uncover a trade secret.

Same here. It is very difficult to compare DirecTV with my cable company. I've got two HD DVRs and 4 SD DVRs. Each of these boxes adds $5.00 to my bill. With Cable, the fee is split in up to 4 ways for each box and can be as much as $20 per box.

Digital Converter Fee -per box
Remote Control Fee - per box
DVR Fee - per box
HD Fee - per box

I currently pay around $140/month. If I switched to cable, I'd be well over $200 for the same package.
