Price increases causing me to "restructure"

Same team I prefer. Go figure.

I did a little bit of research into using a remote proxy too. Seems like a lot of effort, although for 5 bucks a month it's a drop in the bucket in the bigger picture. My other thought was having a friend of mine in another state set up the mlb account for me. If it worked something similar to the way Dish Anywhere does that would get me what I wanted. My fear is that every time I signed in it would ping my ip address and block me from watching what I wanted.

It doesn't matter what the address on file is for MLB.tv. Each time you try to watch a game it checks your location by looking at your ip addess to decide which games to black out. My account is based in Michigan. When I am home the Tigers games are supposed to be blacked out. If I went to Pittsburgh for a weekend and logged in the Pirates games would be blacked out but the Tigers wouldn't be.

I am using a DNS service. When it senses me trying to view a game on MLB.tv it will route my traffic to somewhere that isn't blacked out long enough to pass the blackout test. Once the test is passed everything is supposed to go back to normal so my speeds won't be impacted.

It's not that much effort. You just setup an account with them and then replace the DNS numbers in your router if you want it to work for all of your devices. If you only need it to work with specific devices, like an Apple TV or game console you can just change the DNS on those devices instead of the router. If you do this make sure you write down your DNS numbers before you replace them so you can go back to normal when the season ends and you don't want to keep paying.

If I didn't have the dishscriber credit I'd be a smart pack customer. All I need is locals and DIY.

On DA now, when my referral credits run out I'm going back to the welcome pack.

For me it's not so much about the price as content & commercials. Crap is the only good word for it & it's just not exclusive on dish.

I "restructured" down to a single receiver and ran housewide HDMI cables years ago due to the stupid receiver fees. If it weren't for PIXL and a couple other channels that would cause me to receive bodily harm (or at least mental abuse), I would drop the package level too. The encryption on the dozen EHDs keeps me their customer for life until I get fed up and say to heck with it all.

I certainly don't watch $100 worth of TV in a month's time, but haven't yet figured out how to get what I do want to watch at a cheaper price.

After 31 days of Oscar on TCM will drop from 200 to 170+ - saving $10. When my stepson moves out in June will drop a receiver for a savings of another $7. Of course I will probably put the savings into some ham gear.

Even though I discussed dropping from 250 too 200 with my wife, I didn't actually tell her that I pulled the trigger. So far nobody has even noticed. :)

My daughter noticed when Disney XD was gone.

I had a talk with her about value and she finally agreed that it wasn't worth $10/month, especially if it came out of her allowance.

Dropped from 250 down to 120 last month in anticipation of the price increase. Only missing BBC America and DYI network for 1 show so far.

I've been surprised how little impact switching from AT250 to AT200 a few years ago and recently to AT120 has had. When did Fox News drop to AT120? I do miss TCM (no outside commercials) for movies and a few other shows but, for the most part, very manageable.

I dropped down several years ago and not much more I can do, except get rid of Dish and go with a Tivo with OTA and maybe Netflix.n All I have is Dish America with BB@H and a single Hopper, no Joey. Hooked up my other two tvs directly to my AV receiver on the main TV. Got at least 80 movies on EHD, so I am stuck with Dish, but could drop BB@H.

Is the channel lineup still available that just shows differential channel additions with the AT (or DA) packages? I've scanned the Compare Package table for missing items, and it's hard to downgrade when you never know whether you missed something.

I dropped BB@Home. I'm still on the fence about AT250, but I would miss VH1 Classic if I downgraded.
The only thing on VH1 Classic I miss is 120 Minutes, but I already own most of the music from that program.

The latest price increases, and the fact that the Virtual Joey price is the same as the regular Joey has me "restructuring". To off set the new prices, today I dropped from Americas top 250 to Americas top 200, for a $10 savings. And I am going to mirror a Hopper and drop a Joey for an additional $7 savings. Originally I was going to "downgrade" my son's Joey to a virtual Joey, but the fact that it would be the same price has me changing my strategy, so instead I plan to eliminate one Joey and mirror to my daughters room and the kitchen.

I am just curious if anyone else is also "restructuring" due to the recent price increases?

Just out of curiosity, how do you mirror your signal? Do you use a wireless transmitter/receiver, or some kind of wired connection?
