I ordered a Wifi Broadband Connector(Netgear WNDA3100v2) from Dish on the phone. I explained it was the USB Wifi connector. I received a Powerline Broadband connector instead. I read on Dish website this connector is not returnable. I read the installation instructions and I don't even know if this will work with my setup.

I have 2-612s and 1-722k. I don't have a Slingbox as listed in the instructions. And I don't know to what "other equipment to complete installation" is referring to. Any insight as to what to do next will be appreciated.

Most (all?) VIP receivers have built-in powerline Ethernet adapters, and some folks have had excellent results from these. If you want to try it, plug it into your router, and see if you can "see" the adapter from your receivers. Worth a shot IMHO, especially since this connects all your receivers with one adapter.

+1!
Just plug it in near your router (directly into an outlet-no power strip or surge protector) and connect it via Ethernet. Your receivers SHOULD then be online. Works fine for me.

Sometimes you might have to experiment with electic outlets; for whatever reason some connect better than others, but as mentioned, keep it out of power strips and surge suppressors. The powerline adapter sends your internet signal out to your house's electical lines. As mentioned VIP equipment (722 for sure) has Powerline built in so no need for a second adapter at the VIP location. I used the Dish Powerline adapter when I had VIP equipment and it was super easy to install and worked well. If I remember right I also had to plug my VIP recievers directly into an electric wall outlet rather than a surge suppressor as well for it to work on that end too. I even used it with my Hopper when I first got it, only Powerline is not built in on the Hopper and it required a second adapter. As a bonus, if you need a wired internet connection somewhere else in your house, you can just get another Powerline adapter and plug it in near that location and you will have internet there also. I'm not sure what the limit is but I was using three adapters at once when I had them.

My home has 2 distribution boxes, 1 in the basement and 1 on the first floor which is fed from a 100A breaker in the basement box. Outlets on the first floor come from both panels and powerline connectivity is a crapshoot depending on which outlets are being used.

If they would have sent you just the wifi adapter, you'd only be able to connect one rcvr to the internet. With powerline broadband connector (Slinglink adapter), you can connect all of your rcvrs to the internet. 722's and 612's are all compatible and can be connected. As others have said, just plug the adapter directly into a power outlet and connect a standard ethernet cable from the adapter to an open port on your router. To verify connectivity at each rcvr, press the menu button on the remote, option 6 (system setup), option 1 (installation), option 9 (broadband setup), option 2 (network setup), then reset connection. Your connection status should read 'connected online' if the rcvr has successfully detected an internet connection via the powerline broadband adapter. The broadband setup selection is option 8 on the 612 rcvrs, but everything else is still the same. Make sure your rcvrs are plugged directly into the wall outlet and not through a power/surge strip. And try not to plug them into GFCI outlets. (The rectangular shaped outlets generally found in wet areas such as the kitchen or bathrooms)
