Hi i had 3 622 dvr receivers in the last month everyone had the same problem cracking noise or pop when the picture frame would change it is really loud. Talk to a guy on the computer yesterday morning who sugested taking it out of the entertainment center and giving it more air. Did that it seem to work. So i went and bought a new center with wide open shevles for my receiver and now i am getting popping noise from my local channel. is this normal, i never had a problem with Directv had them for 14 years but was told Dish turbor Hd was really good. It is great but just the popping noise, i have tried everything even pugged the system into a outlet with nothing on it but the TV system and it still did it. I have a brand surge protector thought that could be the problem. I live near the St Louis Area anyone else out here have the same problem and if so did you get it fix. I hate to call dish again. i can't believe i got 3 bad receivers.

greetings,

i get the same thing from my 722. it is on a shelf, in the open, no cabinet.
last time it happened i replayed it and it was recorded on the DVR. at first i thoguht it was just the TV.

not a lot of help i know, but hope you get some replies on this. in my case, it is not heat.

is the noise coming from your tv? sounds like the hdmi cable. you had several receivers but did you try new cables, hdmi or component?

Thanks guys yes tried new hdmi cables, had Vizio send out a repair guy to check speakers on my 42inch thought that was the problem. You won't guess what happen he changed out the board for the hdmi, and when put it back together he had the heat foil touching the metal box to the hdmi board and the metal cover to the plower board , you know what happen when he plugged it it was the fourth of July in the marlow household. Vizio is sending me a new 42 inch will be here on tuesday in the mean time i rented a 32 inch and had the same problem, that is when i started looking at the receiver. They say(dish techs) that i will get cracking or poping noise. Still trying to get someone to pay for the rental but i am happy just getting a new HDTV .

Thanks for telling me glgeek is was going to upgrade to 722 hoping it would help me out my friend has the 722 and no problems for him. or that is what he saids.

the thing with mine is that the DVR recorded it and i could play it back and occurs in the same place of the recording. kind of a crackling snaping sound that is quite loud.

strange

Often audio drops are the result of poor reception. Audio is dropped before video. Check all your connections. Take a 7/16" wrench to all RG6 connections. Make sure all coax is RG6 and not RG59.
