Has anyone mounted a Slimline on a pole. How about 7 feet off the ground. How deep would you dig the hole? What size Pipe would I need to make it strong enough? Or is this not a good Idea? I could go 5 feet above ground if I have to.

Where you are you should go at least 42" down regardless of how high you go. I have an AT9 on a pole, almost 9' in the air, and 42" deep. I used shedule 40 2" fence post, which is actually 1.9", so when you put the dish on it, you must tighten the base very securely. Also, it's a good idea to use a set screw through the base into the pole. I was going to install guy wires, but I have had zero issues with signal loss due to the dish moving.
I'm going to go about 5 feet up. Whats the trick to keeping it plumb while the cement Dries? And will D* come out and check the line of sight for me? . Becasuse I do have a tree to the right of the location. And I mounted a 3lnb over about another 12 feet to the right or the location I'm currently thinking about, and I couldn't get the 119. I'm wondering if that 12 to the left will be enough. Is it something I could determine myself? Without a call to D*?
What I usually do to set the pole up right is take a mini sledge and a block of wood and hammer it down a couple of inches with it sorta plumb, drop in a bot of concrete mix.. usually after 50lbs the pole will stay plumb if you dont make concrete soup. Tap the pole a bit an dget it plumb.. pour 100lbs more in and set a final plumb.. I leave the level on the pole while I build the dish, start trenching or making ground block set up.. check it periodically, after about 30 minutes its usually safe to set the dish on.
If you use Quikcrete it will dry fast enough that it will remain plumb until it does dry.
Isn't that only 2.33 bags? I think they are 60lbs bags right? (Trying to remember from my fence build)

You probably have this pole done by now, but I placed a 16' pole 30" deep, 13.5 above ground and supported by the house, I used sch 40 pipe from a fence company, drilled a hole in the bottom of the pole , placed a bolt thru it and buried it in cement, I use 40lb concrete (maybe 80, don't remember for sure) I did this about 2 years ago and have never had any trouble with the set up.

Ahh, I see they are only 50lbs and they say use 2 so thats 100lbs for a 2" post at 36" depth but at only 6" hole diameter; that must be where he uses the 3rd bag; I bet his hole are bigger than 6" (insert joke here)
No only on Ka/KU Installs and yea my hole is generally 15"-20" wide at least. I have seen too many service calls where 1 bag was used and did nothing to help stabilize the pole with windload.
No , I don't and its the 7th. I'm Having a line of sight issue, That needs to be addressed before I move the dish. I'm Alittle worried about the 119 satellite location. How can I make sure of clear of the location before I put the pole in?
I'm fine with putting 3-4 bags in if I have to. Not a big deal. Im in the process if moving all my Satellite Dishes off the Shed and mounting them in the ground. E* dishes too. But the Slimline is most important because it has to be really stable. We got 90+ plus Degrees for the next 4 days ,but I still need to get this done ASAP. Line of site Help Please!
There are websites that can give you the azimuth and elevation to 119 for your location. A compass and protractor will give you a good idea where 119 is.
Grab the 3 lnb dish, drive a pole into the ground just enough to be stable in the location you wish to try. Get a piece of coax long enough to reach the receiver and point the 3 lnb dish where you are considering the slimline. Since it's just the 119 that's in question, you'll know if you have signal or not.

With the talk of the new 3 sat dish 99, 101, 103 coming out , I would not be surprised to see the 119 go away soon as far as D* and Video, they may keep it there for awhile while they get all the other stuff moved around, but I think it's D*'s idea to get rid of the ones that they don't have much on, also, isn't the 119 being shared or belong to DISH.
