Phoneline Connection- bottomline?

I did a search but could not come up with anything that says what the bottomline is on having receivers connected to a phone line.
I have a 622 and 2- 211Ks. They are currently hooked up to the phone. My problem is that a month ago I got rid of my TWC digital phone and switched to a cellphone only. I then bought a Xlink box that connects to my cordless house phones thru bluetooth from the cellphone. I don't have unlimited minutes per month on the cellphone plan and am finding that the receivers are calling out almost daily and using up my minutes .
Since the $5 phone connection credit is a thing of the past, do these receivers have to be hooked up anymore?

three is close to the audit threshold. if they aren't connected to something the nazis might call. you could always hook them up to your broadband.
