Well I have aquired a Primestar 84E. Its 40" by 30". I got it in pieces and am missing the elevation "pivot" and the elevation pointer. The long bolt that comes
down from the top is there but nothing else. Anyone ever ran across some hardware that you can make one out of? Anyone got one out there they dont
need?

Thanks
Allen

It probably is possible to make one... I am not near any right now (wish I had brought one with me) I posted some pictures a while back of the dishes. I will try to find the pics and see what it takes. You do not absolutely need the adjustment but it sure comes in handy. You can use a bolt and nut to hold it in place.

I am in the same boat. My 84e has a 75e arm and it is playing havoc with me. I haven't been able to find the correct arm and a new receiver has prompted me to see what it would do as is. I have been reviewing a lot of the threads today looking at modifications. The 105 degree heat has been conducive to indoor activities on the computer refreshing my memory on these dishes.

Gary1, which mount do you have the enclosed box on the right or open one.

OSU1991 - when I get back home I will measure the two arms if someone does not beat me to it.

I have two of them with J poles and old linear+circular LNBFs from old DTV days 101W+95W ( huge and heavy stuff), if I could see someone willing to pickup I would throw away tomorrow. :)

That one does have the adjustment screw. The other one does not, but it is lighter so it might work better with a motor. That also is an 85E the other is on a 75E. I did not realize it when I took the picture. I think I see what Gary needs. I can not remember what is behind the bracket, but will see when I get back to the property.

i do have a extra heavy mount.... i adapted one just like it up to a primestar 84e but its heavy and would probably only make a good stationary mount.... probably to heavy for a motor. it looks like stainless :) pictured below

i have a arm from a 84e that i can build a replacement and give you either the original or the homemade one. it will take me about a week to build and test due to some other projects being first....i can also have it delivered to the pryor/chouteau area around the 1st week in sept

Thanks gabshere,

That would be great, I am close with the 75e arm I can get a few transponders but it is hit or miss depending on the satellite I am aimed at. I get most of 101 but I only get two stations on 123 and they just barely come in at 65% on the Coolsat. I hate to destroy a good arm but if I had the measurements I could cut and extend this one to the proper position.

I am out there at the lake at Rocky Point on Ft. Gibson regularly, so the Pryor/Chouteau exit on 412 is about 5 miles from me.

I know where a couple of 1m primestars are, but they either won't let them go or I can't get the property owner to respond. I have yet to see anymore 84e dishes, so this one has been sitting in the back of the shop for about a year. I was using my 7.5 unimesh but I haven't put it back up since it got a little damage just before the ice storm in Tulsa last winter. I am fortunate that I got it taken down just a day before the ice hit. So I have been without FTA since Christmas and am trying to ease back into it.

Okay, I'm game. Where is BA?
Is it anywhere near CA(lifornia)?

Somehow, I don't expect a good answer. :D

. . . I'm still considering Linuxman's offer to come to St Louis, Missouri, and get a big dish 'n motor . . .
(but not too seriously) -
Does anyone drive a truck between St Louis and Los Angeles?

Sorry, I should have posted a picture. rv1pop is right it is not essential. But it would be nice to have. Im not sure exactly what it looks like since its missing. The long elevation bolt comes down from the top throught the adjustment "part". Im not sure how the pointer goes on since its missing too. If anybody has a good picture of it assembled it would be helpful.

Thanks

Gabshere.

Thanks for the offer of the mount. Mine should work fine, would just have to manually adjust
elevation.

Thanks Anyway

Bay Area. Weekend is prefferable.

oh the adjustment bolt thingy (elevation "pivot") .... i do have one of those somewhere
the bolt was brok off and still inside i just adjust the dish manually
if you need it let me know , you would have to remove the broken bolt
let me look at it and see how hard it would be to remove :)

Those DirectWay mounts are great when grafted to a Primestar (or anything else).

Bay Area, huh? That's a day's drive from Los Angeles, so I thank you but will have to decline.
Maybe RV1pop will drift by on his next big trip. I'm sure he could use the dishes... or at least the mounts.
Thanks anyway. - :up

Driving directions to San Francisco, CA 382 mi – about 5 hours 48 mins (up to 7 hours 20 mins in traffic)
Gas just came down to $4/gallon. . . .

The idea of an elevation adjustment bolt seems fine, but from my experiance with my StarChoice 75e, there is just too much play. (at least with that dish)
STAR CHOICE 75-E ANTENNA ASSEMBLY
The pivot point of the dish on the clamp bracket needs to have a tight fitting bolt, and the elevation adjustment bolt neet to have very little play for when adjusting the elevation, the dish does not move without turning the bolt.
