Package pricing

Yes they all can till there is a price increase and lose nothing. And that new price will become the guaranteed price for the remainder of the contract unless you switch after another price increase again.
Example - you switch after a price increase of $3 to another package. You will pay not the full package price but $10 less than the package price, which would be $3 more than before.
That is not the way I interpreted that paragraph, although the terms certainly could have changed since then, since I did not see that paragraph in my contract.

Flex pack was not part of the $10 promotion, try looking in other parts of the contract to see if it discusses Flex Pack, possibly the "Contrary Terms"
If you switch to a qualifying Top package you will automatically start receiving the $10 discount for the rest of the contract.
Flex Pack is not specifically mentioned. Even if there were any "contrary terms," the word "Notwithstanding" automatically voids the contrary terms or conditions.

I think my interpretation of the additional $120 in credits is probably correct. If there is a $5 per month increase six months into the contract, the price protection would mean a discount of $5 per month for the next 12 months, followed by another $5 per month increase in month 18, which means the price protection would give a $10 per month discount for the final six months of the contract. ($5 times 12 + $10 times 6 = $120) If the price increases start sooner than six months into the contract, or if the price increases are greater than expected, then the total discount would be greater than $120. This discount, added to the guaranteed $120 with autopay ($5 times 24) would be the "aggregate value of $240 or more."

Not to be argumentative, but that's not what the contract states. I just agreed to the Top 200 for $69 per month for two years. The regular price is $79. The contract (as pointed out in post #16 above) says that if I change to another package in the next two years I will pay the current price for that package. Example: if I switch to Top 250 I will pay $89 or whatever it happens to be at the time. There's no mention of a $10 discount which will carry over to the new package.

You can read the entire contract by using the link in post #16 above.

I've been on month-to-month AT250 with my H3 for over a year now. Anyone know what kind of savings I'd get if I went to a 2-year instead?

PM DIRT and see if you qualify for the Renewal Deal. If so $15 off monthly with 2 year commitment and autopay.
$10 off programming package and $5 off for committing to auto pay for 2 years. At least that's how I read it.

Come to think of it, DIRT did say I qualified "especially since I was already on autopay." ? ? ?

Just send a PM to DIRT and see what they can do for you.

Chris in on now.

The two-year contract also comes with a price freeze, so the amount of the savings will depend on how much the price increases for your package would otherwise be over the next two years. :)

Ok, I just upgraded to Hopper 3 and Joey 2 from 2 first gen hoppers. Today I was in contact with Dish customer support to get the 2 year price lock with $10 off and auto pay with $5 off. The CSR I spoke with wouldn't let me have this, but came back after checking my account with $25 off a month for the next 10 months. He also stated that after 10 months I can call again for more discounts. Has anyone had this experience?

Did you try to talk to cancellation department? IF not call back and hit the cancel DISH account number and then someone from the loyalty department will speak to you. Then you can ask for the two year price deal and what you can do to get it. I barely ever go through normal csrs any more for credits or price locks. They usually don't know about these deals .

IF you wait for the entire automated message to play it will ask you if you want to cancel your dish account push # (what ever it is ), I can't remember which one ,but they will tell you. This gives you a direct line to the account specialist, who will then work to keep you on with DISH. Credits and promos , upgrades, etc, will then be discussed.

That's interesting. I'm about to pull the trigger on upgrading to H3. I just wonder if I should try the price lock first and then upgrade? Or the other way around?

See what they will do for the upgrade first, then in the same call tell them you want the deal. It may be they simply won't give you a deal on the upgrade and give you the two year discount at the same time, but ask. If it were me and they won't do both if you really want the upgrade do the best you can with that along with the two year guaranteed no increase for two years with $10 off and $5 for autopay - or which ever saves you more money.

One time, Dish offered me $25 off per month for five months if I would switch from Welcome Pack to Dish America. I didn't take that deal. I insisted on getting the entire credit upfront instead, so I could use the credit to purchase equipment. Also, it has been my experience that, even when they tell you that you can call back to get more discounts after the offer ends, they will not always offer any more discounts at that point. In my opinion, the longer-term offer with the price lock is a better deal.
