Just purchased a DTVPal to see what it could do and it really surprised me by picking up one station that neither my VIP222 or VIP211/411 can receive. On this station the DTVPal shows a signal strength of 65 to 68. My VIP222 and 211 show 0. That is quite a difference.
For all other stations the signal strengths picked up by the DTVPal are almost the same as with the OTA tuners in my VIPs. The numbers are almost identical. It is just this one station.
I suspect the reason for this is because of a mulitpath signal and the DTVPal can handle those better than the VIPs. The analog version of this particular station was always troubled with severe ghosting.
It wold be nice if the VIP OTA tuner could be as good as the one in the DTVPal tuner because I would really like to watch this station in HD. I wonder if the VIP OTA tuner selectivity/sensitivity could be improved through a software upgrade?
