OTA Help Please

Auto-Hop DOES work on OTA. I've been using it for years. Occasionally the satellite version will have autohop and the OTA version won't or vice versa but for the most part PTAT Auto-Hop works the same on both, including the 7 day CBS delay.

I guess I am having OTA PTAT Auto Hop issues. Ran an OTA PTAT test last nite on three of my HWSs. Auto Hop for the OTA PTAT channels did not show up on any Hoppers. ABC Auto Hop for the Satellite local did not show up on any Hoppers. Will check later today to see if ABC Auto Hop shows up. JSheridan, what do you think could be causing OTA Auto Hop not showing up for all three of my Hoppers? I set one time timers from the Guide.

I just checked that recording which is still on the hard drive and it has the little red kangaroo. I haven't used it on the HWS in a while but the last time it worked fine.

OK, I just tested my recordings of Hell's Kitchen on my Hopper. Both the PTAT and OTA recordings had Auto Hop working just fine.....

Thanks Bobby. So wonder what is causing my OTA PTAT recordings not showing Auto Hop when the Satellite local recordings show it! Could it be a bad Node, DPP44 switch, LNB?

I'm pretty sure the node, switch or LNB wouldn't have anything to do with no AH on OTA locals. Assuming your big 4 are in HD (thanks Chad), I'm not sure what could be the cause other than something about the channels in your particular market, maybe. ???

Anybody else in your market that can test it?

Thanks JSeridan. I don't have a clue why my OTA recordings Auto Hop does not show up. I may disconnected the coax jumper cable that connects the two Duo Nodes together (Client to Client) to see if that has anything to do with the issue. I am leaving PTAT enabled on three Hoppers. It does not have any effect one way or the other as far as the remote freezing up issue.

Are your non-auto hop OTA recordings complete? If an hour show does it state less than 1:00 elapse? Was there any OTA signal loss during recording? My recordings with those problems don't auto hop but other OTA recording do.

Yes, recordings are complete and no OTA signal loss that I know of. What do you mean "If an hour show does it state less than 1:00 elapse?" I will keep testing to see it straightens itself out on all three Hoppers. I will also test my fourth HWS too. It also has an OTA module, but has rabbit ears only. The other three HWSs uses the same attic power amped OTA antenna.

I mean when you display the show's info is the Elapsed time correct. Sometimes I'll have one for an hour show that only recorded :59 for some reason.

They seem to all be correct.

Is the PQ better on OTA than a Dish same channel? Theoretically the answer should be a resounding YES but I don't remember any difference at all from my 722.

Picture quality is 100% subjective. All that matters is what your eyes see.
