Orion Cooker

How were the country (called western style here) style ribs? That's one of my favorites out of the Orion.
 
The Plan:
Country Style Beef Ribs

Rub:
2 Tsp. garlic powder
2 Tsp. onion powder
2 Tsp. Onion Flakes
2 Tsp. ground sage
1 Tsp. ground red pepper
1 Tsp. crushed red pepper
2 Tsp. black pepper
2 Tsp. brown sugar
1 Tsp. cane sugar
2 Tsp. seasoning salt
1 Tsp. sea salt
2 Tsp. Parsley flakes
2 Tsp. Italian seasoning
2 Tsp. Cumin
2 Tsp. Oregeno
1 Tsp. Lemon & Pepper
3 Tsp. Brown Gravy Mix


Marinate: 1/8 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/4 cup Apple Juice

Applied Marinate & Rub about 2 ago and placed in 1 Gallon Baggies

Chips used: Apple / Cherry mix with a sprinkling of Hickory

Poured marinate into drip pan...

Put Krafts Honey BBQ Sauce on top, then placed on the top rack 2 strips of bacon and 2 Earl Cambell Hot Links...

Ignition: 4 pm

Pulling at 5:45 pm

Drip Pan: about 9 oz Coca Cola

Good stuff! I forgot to add chips... still has a slight smoke flavor though...( lit it then saw the chips laying in the rubbermaid contaner...


Good lookin grub as always. The folks at Orion should be paying you commision just from the cooks you have shared with us here. Nice job.:up

Add Country Style Ribs to top rack and sprinkle rub on, put 2 under chicken rack with rub applied...

Marinate:None

Poured Kraft's Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce on all...

Poured 1/2 of a 12 oz Budweiser into drip pan...

Chips used Apple / Cherry

Ignition Time 5:15

Pulled at 7:35... good stuff...

Applied Rub Saturday afternoon to frozen wings...

.Marinate: Approximately 4 0z. Great Value Mustard, 4 Oz Kraft's Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce, 4 0z. Apple Cider Vinegar & 4 Oz. Apple Juice added 24 hours previous to ingnition.

Poured about 6oz. of Coca Cola into drip pan...

Chips used Apple / Cherry / Hickory (mainly Apple & Cherry)

Ignition Time 4:14

Pulled at 7:35... good stuff...
 
Getting ready to smoke a turkey tomorrow afternoon, a little nervous. I don't have an injector, does anyone know if it makes that big of difference? If so I will buy one. Please advise and thanks for the welcome!


I know I am very late in answering this, but I have cooked 12+ turkeys in the orion now. You do not have to inject at all, just rub with Olive Oil and put your favorite rub on the side. However, my favorite method is to brine the Turkey overnight and cook the next day. If you are still interested in the Brine recipe I will post it here.
 
This will be the O's first weekend off in the last month for me. I am using the week off for cleaning. A tip from the Orion Site:


Spray the whole cooker with Easy off oven cleaner and let sit over night. Take the O to the car wash and use the high pressure hose to blast off the grime...

I always rinse the O when I get home as some of the car washes used water that is being reused.

Applied Rub and Apple Cider Vinegar / Apple Juice to Ribs 2 hours ago then added a handful of crumbled up potato chips and mixed in... wrapped with bacon.

Drip Pan: Marinate

Chips: Mix of Apple and Hickory

Ignition: 4:55 pm

I'm thinking about doing a Turkey this weekend. I've done one once before and it was awesome. Have any of you guys ever one?
