Got crazy mad the other day at my Traxis 3500 because it's outdated and can't tune the new stuff and looks horrible on a 53" HDTV, so I went and bought a Openbox s9 from this place in calif. called shop4fta? Maybe that wasn't the best place to buy from? Don't know for sure if it's loaded with North American bird locations or the ones over Europe? Further searching I could get the same receiver with some special pvr tool to playback 4:2:2 on my computer. I don't know how much I would watch the GDMX feeds, but would sure love to be able to atleast see them at a later time if I wish. Any thoughts on shop4fta? Their websight say's #1 place to shop fta and have a good price on the units. Thanks.

I bought mine there. Free very fast shipping (but I'm in CA) and included a HDMI cable. When I received it I loaded an updated file as you point out, the sat list was short some USA satellites. It also fixed the blue/green screen issue, but I only use the HDMI cable now so not a problem anyway.

If you spend time here, it would be better of course to support the forum supporters...

I have ordered 2 Openboxes from Shop4fta. You will receive yours with an Euro bin file in it. Also, it will be set in TV System/ Video Out as RGA so you will see nothing when do the installation to your HDMI, DARK screen. You will need to find an old TV , connect your Openbox , try to see the screen (will be foggy) and hardly to see it. Go directly to MENU/ SYSTEM SETUP/TV SYSTEM and change the VIDEO OUTPUT to YUV. From there you will see everything fine. Go back and do the installation to your HDTV. Download the North American bin file and load it to your box. Do your configuration and scan your sats. Good Luck

Just ordered another one to ZAPTOYZ and got it with all this changes already made it, plus they send me Pen Drive as a gift.

Also, (Remember to stay away for the V-FORMAT bottom on your remote)

That's funny Iceberg! Sounds like something I would do. Thanks guys for your fast & helpful reply's. I've had C-band since late 80's and loved every minute of it. Now it seems so depressing that my 4dtv and hdd-200 sits and collects dust while I watch only off air HDTV from Minneapolis/St. Paul and Eau Claire, WI. I bought a Traxis 3500 a few years back and just thought it was ok. I just want to breath some life back into my c/ku band 10' satellite dish and also be able to get a few more HDTV channels without giving into directv or dish! I'm not ready yet.

there was one screw to take out by the batteries and just used a pen knife to crack it open

Ah so, thanks. I have 2 of those that require that surgery. I was trying to recover one last night from the "rolling screen" and accidentally switched it to some foreign language!

That didn't help much. :D

I hit "the button" for the first time yesterday while trying to push the DVR INFO button. I was able to get my Openbox back into the proper mode after hitting "the button" several times, waiting in between pushes for about 5 seconds. Its really not a disaster, but it is a PITA ;) ...

I hit that button also, but went into the system setup, tv system and then set it on 1080i_60. This is using hdmi or components.
