OPENBOX S9 / GBOX SET UP

I am using low voltage irrigation wire that I bought from HDepot a few months ago when I started this project. I believe its 7 strand. The dish only moves in BUMPS it does not stay in motion with either the openbox , gbox remotes or buttons on the face of the gbox I did notice something else a short while ago but have no idea if its relevant. When I use the openbox remote the LEFT button which moves the dish West is correct but the LEFT button on the gbox remote moves the dish east.

Your problem is is quite clear. If the actuator is sending pulses continously the actuator would move across the sky with one push. Something wrong with the actuator or wiring to it. I suggest you bring the actuator indoors, set it all up on the kitchen table and with short wires have the g-box and the actuator wired up and test again. If you cant get it to work there, it will never work outside. This is the process of elimination. YOU WILL get it going after some more effort.
Tell us about your actuator, brand, model, etc.

EVERYONE , THANKS for your responses so far I greatly appreciate all your help. This has so been so very frustrating at times. ...The actuator is the Powermax PMA-24. I bought this as a package with my WS 6' ft dish and DMX741 LNBF. Just to let you know from day one I was getting the E-2 msg displayed every time I moved the dish L/F.

That last sentence should have been every time i move the dish left or right...lol

The "E2" code means that the GBos is not "feeling" the pulse counts from the Arm's Reed Sensor, nothing wrong with the Openbox S9

Caused by.......
Bad connection - triple check
Bad Wire(s) - test or replace
Bad Reed Sensor - rare for a new Arm, possible that you accidentally connected the 36volt Motor wires to the Reed Switch?
