Only took 20 years to move my dish

Finally got around to moving the 7 1/2 ' foot dish. (Actually it's 7' 4")
It was sitting at my Dads place since 1990. Getting the original pole out of the ground proved to be the hardest part, even when using a demolition hammer.
I have yet to test the motor but I have it pointed at 91W for now.
Thought I'd share some photos.

Wonder what brand that is? And is it molded on the back as well as the front?

As for being a procrastinator, I once installed a garage door opener after having it sit on the shelf (new) for 5 years. -

Made by Laminates of Canada in Summerland BC. It's molded on the back as well.
I don't think they were ultra poplar since it's locally built. But it certainly is built well.
I was concerned about warpage, after 20 years, but it looked and felt pretty decent. It's always been mounted and not left on the ground to bend, crack or mold away.

It also has some nostalgic significance. Have the old AROSAT receiver as well.

The AZBox Seems to pull in 91W TPs just fine. Will need to spend some time (hopefully not 20 years as iceberg has mentioned getting the motor set up. I may just use the AROSAT to perform that duty.
Not having to pay anything, just a bit of sweat, made it a fairly easy decision.
Convincing my other half was a bit more of a challenge. The neighbor is worried we'll start to ware tin foil on our heads.

just make sure that your tin foil hat has a good low-impedance ground!!

Got the Norsat JR300 going with the old Boman PJ-460 actuator.
Motoring around I felt I may as well mark down the HD TPs I lock and their respective quality (Azbox)

For anyone else in the vancouver/victoria area, this will give you some idea of what High Def to expect with a 7.5' dish and a BSC421

87W 4000H Quality= 58%
89W 3920V Quality= 70%
95W 4000H Quality= 71%
99W 4140V Quality= 77%
103W 4040H Quality= 64%
107.3W 3750H Quality = 49%


Anything past 121W I have LOS issues until I start some pruning
