In the last war (VHS/BETA) it was Sony against everybody else.

Sanyo offered Beta gear under both the Sanyo and Fisher nameplates. NEC used to offer Beta equipment too as I recall although it may have been OEM'ed.

It was OEMed. Sonny made it all or licensed others to manufacture it. HD DVD fanboys poit to it as one of the big mitakes that ony has been made biy now one of them champions the idea as an advantage for Toshiba.
