....I am a tech who only works with Directv about 5 or 10 times a year and just received a call from a customer a couple hours away who had a receiver sent to them from Florida and they are saying that it does not seem to be talking at all to the Slimline SL5 dish (not SWM) ...... I will be visiting them on the weekend to verify that their signal is still there (and that they may have run the setup properly) .... Up 'til now, every receiver I've met has worked with this type of legacy dish...... has anything changed? ...Thanks

The H25 receiver and all Genies (HR34, H44 Genie lite, HR44, and HR54) are SWiM only and cannot work with a legacy LNB.

This is not to say that your customer does not have one of the older receivers which can work with a legacy dish, but is still experiencing problems because the receiver could be stubbornly stuck in SWiM mode which happens alot.

If he has a legacy lnb and a swm only receiver, you have two options. Switch out the lnb to a swm lnb and go from 4 coax connections to one. Or, put in a SWM16 module. The legacy lnb goes in, one (or two) swm connections come out. This is how I converted my system when I got the Genie and had 2 HR2x receivers connected. When the weather improves, I will be converting to a swm lnb.
