I have an old 301 receiver that I want to use to help aim a dish, however I can't find the remote. Is there a way to access the setup menu using front panel buttons?

Do you have another remote anywhere? You can program it to work the menus, then program the remote back to the other receiver. For the 301, to access the system info, once it is hooked up, press the power button on the front panel, then when off, press channel down. That will take you to the system info screen to program remotes. Can also be reached by pulling the smart card, but that will require the receiver to reboot once the card is reinserted.

I don't see any way of doing this without a remote.
FWIW, I still have the old 301 that I used to use to aim the dish, long time ago. Don't know if I have the remote anymore though.

If you are on eastern arc, you wouldn't be able to use a 301 anyway. Not sure how it would work on western arc now.

Pointing a dish is pretty much the only use for a 301 now since they are being shut down with the legacy systems.

If you are actually using it for service try calling to have it replaced with a 311 and tell them you have to have a new remote with it. If it isn't active, you're out of luck unless you get a remote for it

Pull the card, that will make the receiver go to the system info screen. There you can see what the remote code is.Any dish ir remote will work with it,as long as you program the correct code.
