OK, so WHO is lying?

I believe it is Grant Group that is lying. They want three times more money for the stations, all of which are already broadcast for free over the air.

Not sure why Grant Group didn't cut off their OTA feed too, they are getting much more money from Dish than from OTA.

If the station elects must carry, Dish has to carry them. If they do not elect must carry they must reach an agreement with Dish on how much Dish needs to pay them to be carried. Dish is free to decline their offer and not carry them. That is how the system works. The old contract must have run out and Dish did not want to renew on what ever terms the stations wanted. Dish is not going to carry them until a contract is worked out.

The station is being disingenuous claiming they have no idea why Dish is not carrying them then going on to say we are offering the terms that cable pays. The station obviously knows Dish does not want to pay what they want to charge.

From reading that link, it sounded like the station was letting Dish keep it on the air while they were negotiating a new agreement, and Dish pretty much said "HELL NO!"

Dish would probably be required to pay the higher rates while they carried/negotiated and Dish saw little chance of coming to acceptable terms, so off they went. And the station, losing that revenue stream, may reconsider.

This may be a time Dish actually did "pull the plug", for the reason navychop posted. Hard to tell.

Does he have VIP equipment or the Hopper so he could get OTA? Even if the negotiations are quickly resolved it is still good to have a back up.

I don't really care, I've got my locals but it sure gives DISH a bargining point in negotiations. I would suggest a 1 time investment in OTA it keeps you from being held hostage in negotiations. I actually gained locals from 2 DMA's with OTA.

a 722k but no OTA module in it like the 722 and no hopper (junk) but the way he is ranting right now along with about prob 90% of the rest of this area that are die hard NASCAR fans and Dish customers I'm sure they are getting the phones flooded... I install for them and now I don't think I want to go to work tomorrow from the likely backlash of any current customer lol

???

Also, when you end a comment with "lol", the words that proceed it need to include something funny. And, FYI, your period key isn't working.

Time you stopped posting crap in the Dish threads. Fox affiliates are asking for large increases in payments, when the contracts are up for renewal. Please take you disappointment out elsewhere, please.

Every time Dish looses a channel they cry wolf and blame it on the broadcasters and say they are demanding too much money.

You all know how the story goes.

Dish network and Directv both raise their rates every year, either on their core packages or in the fees they pass to the consumers.

If Dish was truly looking out for their customers, people would gladly put up with their channels being taken away because they would be paying lower rates.

The fact of the matter is that Dish continually puts their customers in the middle of programming disputes, yet at the end you still see programming increases.

So are the programming disputes Dish chooses to get involved with are to benefit the customer, or just to line dish networks pockets while not passing the benefit to the customer?

I don't see any savings to the customer when Dish gets into a contract dispute and drops channels. So why should we put up with allowing Dish to take away our channels?

Show me 1 programming dispute that resulted in lower rates to the customer?

Claude Greiner I stand by my original statement. No one said that prices will go lower. If you will look it isn't just this person's local Fox pulling the same thing. Lubbock, TX is going through the same thing with local affiliate of Fox. In that area Directv just put them back on their system after a very long and protracted dispute w/ the same Fox affiliate. I'm all for any provider telling programmers they want to much and drawing a line in the sand. Dish just happens to be the one that it is more likely to happen with than others. It seems to work, as an example is AMC and it's package is back on E*. More power to Charlie for telling these Fox stations no.
