I don't see why it wouldn't.Anyone know if replacing a Super Joey with a 4K Joey will still cost $50?

James Long is the worst one for the False information too.You can get a 4K Joey, but they will cost you $50 extra.
BTW I noticed on another site they keep saying that in order to upgrade to a Hopper 3 you need a 4K Television. This is NOT true at all. Just s=goes to show the other site has no clue what they are talking about.
Working on the Hopper 3 and the new UI. The 4K Joey has been finished for quite awhile now.Kind of makes you wonder what they've been doing for a year.
Yes.Anyone know if replacing a Super Joey with a 4K Joey will still cost $50?
He's a bit more than a mod.....James Long is the worst one for the False information too.
And I think he is even a Mod.
I skimmed over their Hopper 3 thread, It was good for a Laugh
He still thinks you need 2 coax cables. Wonder where he got that Idea......

They have no clue what they're talking about Scott , over on that forum .
Everything is a conspiracy over there. TOP SECRET even when it's been made public. Its obvious they have no clue from reading that thread. I honestly couldn't believe what I was reading. Like the Hopper 3 is some kind of conspiracy or something.
You got that right, But I don't want to say what......He's a bit more than a mod.....
That was such a mess. For a good laugh read this one. http://www.dbstalk.com/topic/220436-dish-ups-the-ante-and-now-im-considering-a-switch/
sometimes DIRECTV looks better other times DIRECTV looks better.
Scott, thank you for making things easy for us. Not a fan of the info there, and honestly, most of it appears to be "talking out the ass". The only person I saw posting relevant information and didn't sound like they were TOTA, was a member from here, lparsons21 Weird, right? For a good laugh read this one. http://www.dbstalk.com/topic/220436-dish-ups-the-ante-and-now-im-considering-a-switch/
Outstanding, and we'll balanced explanation. Let's hope they all keep improving signal quality as we move forward. I will look forward to the H3. Thanks Scott.I have both DIRECTV and DISH and quite honestly they both look about the same, sometimes DIRECTV looks better other times DIRECTV looks better.
Both companies use Variable Bit Rate Encoders and these encoders look at the 8 - 14 channels for that transponder and decide which channels need the most bandwidth for that frame of video and then divvy up the bandwidth for all the channels on that transponder giving the ones that need more bandwidth more, and those that don't need a lot of bandwidth less. This bit rate changes for every video frame served. So an action movie, or sports event would likely get more bandwidth then a talk show that has a non moving background. (Its more complicated then that but trying to explain it so that its easy to understand.)
If I took someone into my house and showed them HD coming from one provider and showed them the same scene again from the other provider I would predict that no providers would greatly stand out against the other.
Some will say that the resolution of DISH's HD is lower. (it is!) however (and we have done this test before) if you put both providers side by side on calibrated sets a majority of people couldn't pick one provider from the other.
I am guessing the Hopper 3 could look better since its using the latest generation of video processing which is 7 times faster than the Hopper with Sling. Not to mention that it call also display 4K at 60 FPS. Of course the decoding is only as good as the encoders used to send you the programs. And I know that both companies are always upgrading their MPEG 4 encoders to the latest technology and I would say that MPEG4 picture quality has improved greatly over the past few years. Remember when MPEG4 was just rolling out there was no off the shelf MPEG 4 encoder that they could go and buy, these encoders were custom built for them and again they keep getting better and better.
Hope that answers your questions.
