Odd new symbols in guide...

But here's the funny thing. I saw that same icon, and I looked through all my timers, which I don't have many yet, and the show that that icon shows on I do not have a timer set for it. Once I turned off PTAT the icon went away. Onc I turned PTAT back on, the icon came back, but still didn't have a series timer set for that recording.

meaning the icon showed up on mine the 30 min block before PTAT starts on only one show.

Yeah so it sounds like it's there to indicate PTAT is going to fire. People see it on ABC but then disable ABC from the ptat menu and then the series timer icon appears on CBS. So it sounds like it's just some sort of visual indication for PTAT. I'm still working on getting more details.

Just read the whole thread. I've noticed those "blue circles" since before the last update, I think. I've noticed them for at least a month. Drove me craze until I realized nothing out of the ordinary happens. Just happened to look at tonight (AFC championship and they show up all the way before the game, but only for ABC as others have alluded to.

I think the idea of the "setting up" to record PTAT is probably the issue. Maybe DIRT can get it cleared up ... kind of the deal where when I get a phone call, the mail symbol shows up. (UH OH, that's for another thread)

I checked today before I got the new hopper with sling, it showed in the 30 min slot before PTAT. Got the new hopper and just checked it, and this appears to be an issue with the original hopper only. The hopper with sling does not show this same type of behavior.

I'm still waiting for an answer but I still personally think its just there to indicate the series timer (PTAT) that's about to fire, especially since some removed ABC from PTAT and then the icon shifted to CBS. Maybe it's in the prior box due to the next boxes having the PT logos in them.

I think it's a bug, pure & simple. Never occurred with PTAT before the last software update & I can't see it being a design feature preventing setting the indicated show for recording via the guide not to mention, it serves no useful purpose whatever.

Why isn't it in front of each network channel ? Is it on ABC normally because it's first alphabetically ?
Maybe? Not sure but that sounds plausible
Simple enough to test. Most reports indicate it shows up on ABC (since most people probably do NOT de-select networks for PTAT). For someone who un-selected ABC, it showed up on CBS. Someone could check (tomorrow) by de-selecting ABC and CBS and seeing if it shows up on FOX.

It does - only disappears if PTAT is disabled.

The bigger issue with this "pre-PTAT timer" is that it appears that you can't set a timer for that channel time slot. If you hit select on it in the guide, you don't get 'Record This', or 'Record Series' as options, yet it doesn't show up as being a timer...

Mine is daily in the ABC 30 minute block immediately preceding the ptat start continues for all the future guide days that are downloaded. Those that were initially present at the 10 PM time slot at the end of ptat recording are now gone & all appears normal except for the 6:30 one every day. Somebody smarter than me will have figure this out.

Same here. Starts at 7:30 and it is not there for the 11pm show. ABC local only. And I don't have any ABC show, other than PTAT, selected to record.
Som what programmer of the DISH software has a soft spot for Adolescent Baby Company?

Update: I have Fox and NBC only set to record via PTAT and I don't see the Series Timer logo on either channel in the prior time slot. So to me that rules out the alphabetical theory in my eyes. After talking to a few more people, it might be a bug but Dishes engineering team is checking it out and I know they've looked at this thread for examples and all the reports everyone's been posting. If I hear any more I'll be sure to post another update.

Maybe this is why I can't set a timer for revenge or Nashville

Highlight show in the guide. Then use the Search button. Click on show and in the episode display pick the the episode for the following week. You will then be able to set a timer. Or use Seek and Record.
