Oakland new coach ?

I heard this morning that it's not a done deal yet.
Still a possibility though.

Theres also talk that Miami is looking into Dave Shula , can you believe that ?

WWWWWHHHHHAAAATTTTTTTT??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG.....where did THAT come from ???!!!!

The David Shula was easy to smell out because Don Shula has been asked to be a "advisor" into looking for the next coach....they have offically narrow the list to the final 5: Mora Jr, David Shula, Cam Carron, Chan Gailey and someone else that the name escapes me now.

That should be Mora Sr. At least that's what Sportcenter said this morning, unless they just left off the Jr., and meant Mora Jr. All they said was Mora.

Looks like the Oakland Raiders will hire James Lofton as thier next head coach.

Where are you reading that from? I read this just last night: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2733299

"Tuesday the Raiders contacted Green's agent to arrange an interview, and they were told he was not interested in a meeting. That isn't to say Green is totally disinterested in the Oakland vacancy; Green's stance is that he has enjoyed a long relationship with owner Al Davis and that the organization knows him well and knows his track record in the NFL and that he should not have to interview. Dennis Green and the Raiders know each other well, while James Lofton might not be as close to a job as he thought."

Lofton was one of the interviewees, so it not a total WTF, but not much else had been said. He was also a candidate in previous years. I hope this is not an attempt to hire a 1 or 2 year, inexpensive, lame duck only to try and make a run at another high-profile coach that likely will NOT be coming here. Al Davis is an avid supporter of the Rooney Rule; and this is his only "minority" interviewee, so I would not make too much out of this just yet, as he really doesn't fit Davis' profile.

Why not get Madden back? I would love to see him back on the field and out of the booth.

Someone mentioned that to him once, and he said something like being so many years removed and "today's player types" would not allow him to coach today.

I heard Lofton was the choice yeasterday, but that has since changed, Lofton said negotiations were not going as well as had been reported.

Looks like it will not be Lofton now.

Also, today I heard Miami was not looking at Dave Shula, but Mike (?) Shula

Latest Raider coaching search had them interviewing USC's QB coach Steve Sarkisian
But in typical Raider ways, he turned them down tonight.

Jimbo

His statement was just release and said after the 2nd interview ; NO offer was ever made that he had decided to stay at USC.

No big deal here! ESPN, especially, Pasquarelli, love to hate on the Raiders and make things sound worse than they are; although he was the best 'no-name". Now let's hope we don't get Fassel or Lofton. I would rather have Martz, Mora or Green of those left.

QUOTE:

In a statement, Sarkisian said he wanted to stay at USC.

"I thank them for their interest in me," Sarkisian said. "While the job was never offered to me, at this time in my career, I've told them I want to stay at USC. I strongly believe that the Raiders' job is a great opportunity for whomever their next head coach is going to be."

They better NOT get Martz, it's the only thing Detroit has that is positive in Lions camp.
I for one would like to see if he can make the Lions offense move ...

He was signed for 2 years, so he has at least one more year.

The Lions change offensive schemes like underwear ..... but it would be nice to see continuity for a 2nd year at least.

The AP, along with getting the Sarkisian story correct versus the BS ESPN garbage story, is now reporting what MIGHT be happening.

"Al Davis has a reputation for spotting young coaching talent, hiring Gruden, Mike Shanahan and John Madden while all three were in their 30s. The Raiders are rumored to actually be interested in interviewing Josh McDaniels, New England's 30-year-old offensive coordinator, but the Patriots face the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC championship game Sunday, and they must wait."

I'm surprised he doesn't hire Barry Switzer. He is probably the best brown noser of a coach I ever seen. Here is how he got the Cowboys job:

Switzer: "Yes Mr. Jones! Anything you say Mr. Jones!"

Bill Parcells retiring
