High Definition TV has come the the Yakima/Tri-Cities area!

KNDO and KNDU are the first commercial stations in the area to broadcast in HD. We’ve been broadcasting in digital for some time, providing NBC and local news in digital quality, as well as our area's first and only 24 hour local news channel and 24 hour local weather channel.

HD ON-AIR AS OF JANUARY 19, 2006
But, now your favorite shows will be in HIGH DEFINITION! You can see many of NBC’s network programs in HD as well as premier events such as the Olympics in February, 2006.

Locally, you'll be able to see HD over-the-air by tuning your digital tuner to 25.1 in the Tri-Cities area or 23.1 in the Yakima area.

If you're a Charter Cable customer, you can simply tune to Charter channel 782 starting February 1, 2006.

If you are a Dish Network or Direct TV satellite subscriber, HD is not available on your satellite. At this time, neither satellite company has the capacity to handle local stations' HD signals. They tell us they are launching additional satellites to handle this capacity, but we expect it to be quite some time before HD is available locally. Dish / Direct TV customers may be able to tune to over-the-air (23.1 / 25.1) depending on the sat receiver model and where you are located.
