Future Weigel Broadcasting station (channel 31) Northeast Wisconsin update

Weigel Broadcasting, the owner of MeTV, Catchy Comedy, MOVIES! and H&I, has received approval from the FCC to move future channel 31 from Wittenberg, Wisconsin to Shawano, Wisconsin.

The new city of license is much closer to Green Bay, Wisconsin than it was before.

In October 2023, Weigel Broadcasting filed a petition with the FCC asking it to adjust the Table of TV allotments — a change that would allow an unbuilt television station to shift its city of license to a small Wisconsin city bordering Shawano Lake. The company has gotten its wish.

Weigel Broadcasting’s TV-49 Inc. applied to modify the construction permit for a new station on channel 31 to specify a tower south of Green Bay. The 1,000kW facility would be in the same area as other Green Bay-market TV stations and would use a directional antenna limiting the signal to the south to avoid interference to WITI (Milwaukee), which also transmits on RF channel 31.
