Noob Question: PC as Receiver???

Greetings everyone,


first i'd like to point out that am a complete ignorant in the satelite area, i know very basic info about cables used(coax), receiver, dish alignment, installation and lnb installation.

Now my question is the following, am building a nice HTPC for my living room, and i would like to know before buying a Dish Package, if its possible to install a TV Tuner card that can be used to watch tv from the pc. i hav a ton of devices already at the living room(xbox,ps3,pc), so am trying to avoid adding an unnecesary receiver.

You need a Dish satellite receiver with the necessary smart card decryption technology to decode anything Dish broadcasts so the short answer is no.
