Hi,

I am looking for some help/guidance on setting up a NOAAPORT receive system.

We purchased a 1.8m Fortec dish, the Novra S-75 receiver and two LNBs (1 C-band LNBF Eagle Aspen, 1 DMS International C/Ku band).

We have so many questions! So I'll list them, and maybe someone can either answer some, or point us to some guidance on how to make sure that we are doing things right.

Our location is SE Pa (should be in the 39 zone for AMC-4 at 101W).

1. When we setup the receiver (S-75) and connect to either of the LNBs, the receiver signal strenght goes to 80+% without even being on the dish! When this happens, there is no green "signal" or "lock" led on. Is this normal?

1.a. When the LNB is placed on the dish, and positioned (we "think" we are close, but probably off here)... the S-75 SIGNAL LED starts to periodically light up, but no LOCK light. The Signal Strength bar on the control panel doesn't help much but it does go to around 90-93% when we notice the signal light coming on..... Our assumption is that when the "signal" led is on, we are actually getting something on the NOAAPORT frequencies? Is this true?

2. We have no idea how to set the proper vertical/horizontal polarization on this? Should it be vertical/high/low? or horizontal/high/low....... once again, this didn't seem to matter by any indications on the receiver.

3. The receiver shows NO DVBS reecived packets, even when the signal light is periodically on... we assume that is because of no lock?

4. Does anyone have the actual working settings that can be used with the S-75 receiver for NOAAPORT, and some guidelines on how to make sure things are working?

5. based upon above, does it sound like maybe the dish is too small for our area? There are no obstructions (we are on top of a hill, out of the way of trees/etc in direction of satellite. Are the indicators on the S-75 telling anyone anything that can help us diagnose why we can't get a signal lock?

6. How sensitive is positioning of the dish? we are on a stationary mount, and unsure about the "fine-tuning" that is needed.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated...
