OK, I'm stupid - - - don't do what I did!@!! :(

I was using my microHD to point my 10 foot Channel Master outside - - and without thinking used a 7/16 wrench to tighten the COAX. Of course I broke the middle wire solder inside the microHD. I had to take it apart and solder it back - - - which I'm terrible at.

One thing I did to make it a bit stronger was I took an old ring off an old ATI All-in-Wonder and screwed it onto the back on the microHD COAX connector. This made is just a bit more stable.

Learn from my mistake never, never, never use a wrench or as the British say "spanners" on your coax on a receiver. Hand tight is just fine.

I have a keychain wrench that is designed for F fittings. Got it at a satellite convention, and it stays on my keychain. I use it more for loosening fittings than tightening them.

Throughout the years of providing repair and warranty support for manufacturers of satellite products, damaged f-fitting connections are by far the leading reason a product is returned for service. You should see some of the mangled messes that we have processed.

Happy that you were able to fix the damage and get it back into service! Great work!
