No Sound From the AV Output

I connected up the AV cord today for the first time. Nice SD picture while watching 1080i on the HDMI output, but no sound??

Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

What is the audio mode set to? All channels or an AC3? What are the RCA audio cables connected to? STB and audio device volume turned up? Not muted?

The RCA cables are connected to a channel modulator for distribution to a few older tv around the house. I moved the cable to the AV on my main tv, audio is fine. Obviously something wrong with the channel modulator.

I did a sample test of several sats and channels all audio working. I did notice on the information screen that Dolby D shows up often, but I didn't see AC3 anywhere. Does the Micro identify AC3 differently?

Isn't AC3 the algorithm used for Dolby Digital?
