'no signal' issues

What I thought was a bad hdmi cable problem seems to have turned into an underlying dvr receiver problem.I upgraded to hd service and purchased
a 32 inch Vizio last year.No problems until a couple of months ago.When turning the tv on there is a static burp' before the picture appears and more recently and frequently there is a long pause,no picture and a 'no signal' message on the tv screen.
Is there a software fix for vip 722 ?Although I have not,as of yet, located it on this website,this topic seems to be a known issue.I e-mailed Dish Network
technical and got the generic troubleshooting guidelines to follow.
