No Go Shaw Direct on 100cm dish

Way to go Othea !!

Had a situation this afternoon, when I brought a 22k switch to my friend and wired everything in. He's had a single stack system for about 12 years or so. I noticed they had changed the v-code to a quad. After my friend was trying different things on the phone with Shaw (he's in his seventies), I learned that they wanted him to take his other receiver out of his wall unit and try it downstairs. It was then when I grabbed the phone. He asked who I was? I said I'm Dave, I brought the switch! HaHa
This guy had never even heard of a 2x2 22k switch LOL. After a few minutes, I finally convinced him that my friend still had his old sytem and not a new LNB/dish.

His exact words were "V code change? Oh, okay that's easy".
Within three seconds, I watched the vcode change, and six seconds later it said map download complete!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Looks like this is the answer to my troubles as well...

Helping a Canadian friend here in Mexico trying to get his 505 working with the older 75E at his house in Mexico..

Exact same symptoms as described by Othea - vcode is 4323..

Will confirm that it all shakes out as expected

THANKS !!!

Othea,

Thanks for the Data. My quick review is you've got a mixed bag here. (Off the top of my head I can't convert Advanced to Classic Channel line-ups, and therefore the correct Birds / Transponders.)

But while ch760: 98%/10.5 is awsome, others like ch009: 75%/3.6 are on the marginal side if the weather turns bad. I think it's cool you've got 'em both simultaneously off a single round dish. ;)

I took about an hour to adjust the dish and lnbfs and managed to improve the signal quality a bit.

Not much has changed on F2 (a few decimals or one or two percent here and there), but F1R is now better. Here are a few of the indicative numbers:

ch2 96%/8.2
ch9 94%/7.4
ch39 92%/7.0
...
ch70 98%/10.3 (F2 channel, so marginally better)
ch 75 96%/8.2
...
ch132 92%/6.9
...
ch280 95%/7.9
...
ch762 98%/10.8
etc.

I haven't checked all channels (and don't intend to), but Shaw Direct on 100cm is now a "Go".

Othea,

Your tweaking looks good. Glad to see Channel ch9 up to 94%/7.4. Of course it's all about compromise at the end on a single dish. HD channels need a bit more signal strength / ecbno to hold a decent picture, so a little drift toward optimizing F2 is good => as that's where the current HD channels are.

By the way, did you post a photo of your Dish / LNB configutation somewhere? It would be interesting to see how you put it together.

This is my first time to post images - hope they turn out ok.

(By the way, if you look closely at the support arms you will see that I bent them slightly to correct a minor error in the focal depth when I received the dish a couple of years ago. The focal depth for Anik F1R and F2 does not seem to be particularly sensitive, unlike most FTA satellites).
