Way to bring back a thread from the dead... 
I had to do something like this with Sprint on a cell phone repair. They keyboard would sometimes not work. After bringing it to them 2 or 3 times and not fixing it...I finally just hooked up a 12 volt power supply to the battery contacts and made the phone die. I brought it to the store and they swapped it with no questions or fighting needed. I should have done that the first time but I was trying to do things right. Kinda sad when a company forces you to do something like this.
