NHL 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Remember Kelly Hrudy, he's with CBC I guess, he came out today on NHL Network on Sirius and said the Kings would SWEEP the Hawks ...
And he was absolutely Serious.

Personally, I expect it to go 6 or 7

I got 6 out of 8 right in the first round. However, one of my wrong picks was my eventual SC Champion. If this were March Madness, my bracket would be toast. :)

My rebooted second rounds picks:

Pens over Sens in 7- wouldn't be shocked if Ottawa pulls the upset. They may currently be the hottest team in the playoffs

Bruins over Rangers in 7- this will be a barn burner, but I get the feeling the bear may have awoke.

Blackhawks over Red Wings in 6- like I always say, you can NEVER count this Wings team out, but this Hawks team is scary deep.

Kings over Sharks in 5- IMO, the biggest mismatch in the second round

Although I was wayyyy off in the length of these series, I did go 4-0 this round, following a 6-2 opening round. But again, my predicted SC Champ (Capitals) went down in the first round.

Conference Finals

Penguins over Bruins in 6- I believe the key to this series is PP differential. If the Bruins can make this a predominantly 5 on 5 series, they have a chance.

Kings over Blackhawks in 6- Because Jonathan Quick ain't human!

So he was serious on Sirius? :)

Talent- absolutely. Depth-VERY debatable.

Nobody can touch the Penguins top 8 to 10 players, but the Bruins are a VERY deep team. The Bruins have arguably the best 4th line in the NHL, and they can run 7 solid defensemen at you.

I still like the Pens in this series, but I would not be shocked by an upset.

I expect a very sloppy start to the Eastern Conference Finals due to so many days off. Best of luck, Bill!

I'm reluctantly predicting a Chicago-Pittsburgh Stanley Cup Final, although I will pulling the Kings and Bruins. Hmmm. Ratings wise, which game would be a bigger draw?

a. Chicago vs. Pittsburgh
b. Chicago vs. Boston
b. Los Angeles vs. Pittsburgh
c. Los Angeles vs. Boston

Excellent question!! I really don't think NBC can lose. You have three major TV markets, and arguably the most polar team in hockey (in terms of how fans feel about them).

But when push comes to shove, something tells me NBC would prefer a Penguins-Blackhawks Final.

Imo if the penguins can keep the first line of Boston in check they can win it.

I agree. Second line to Second line Pittsburgh wins hands down.

why couldn't they start the PIT-BOS series tonight and maybe go back-to-back, both team been off aleast week

TV and sometimes building availability.

This is true in the case of the Bruins. New Kids on the Block are booked at TD Garden Sunday and Monday night. They could have went with a Fri-Sun at PIT and Tue-Thur at BOS schedule, but NBC wanted a game in primetime Saturday night.

However, it does beg the question why Garden management would book anything with BOTH the Bruins and Celtics having potential playoff conflicts. I realize an empty building generates zero revenue, but would waiting another week or two keeping the building "dark" kill them?

And looking ahead, the Rolling Stones are scheduled at the Garden for two concerts, 6/12 & 6/14....

They're in the clear for 6/12 (potential game 7 of ECF would be in Pittsburgh). However, it would preclude the NHL from scheduling a potential Kings-Bruins SC Final Game 1, Friday 6/14 (probably moot anyway, as the NHL has gone with a Sa-M-W schedule for the SC Final in recent years).

if i was Dan Bylsma and Claude Julien i would want this series to start as quick possible, and there nothing at the CONSOL Energy Center tonight that i see, just a thought

Saturday's schedule

Western Conference Final- Game 1
Kings at Blackhawks- 5:00pm ET (NBCSN)

Eastern Conference Final- Game 1
Bruins at Penguins- 8:00pm ET (NBC)

When cycling this morning near Disneyland in Anaheim (Ducks territory) I came across this Jeep.
