I don't have to imagine that, I grew up with it.
I have a wild idea about a sudden death OT kinda like what college football does...wait, hear me out.
Teams trade off 5-on-4 empty net powerplays. One team goes first (maybe the home team chooses who goes first), and they play until a goal is scored (either PP goal, or empty netter). Then the other team does the same. Whichever team scores in less time (or scores both goals) wins. No chance for a tie, and OT would always be relatively short (due to the empty net situation). This would use the teams' full skillset (PP, PK, offense, defense, goaltending) instead of the shootout which is just individual scorers vs. goalie.
Great win by Blues last night and 6 in a row and 3 shoutouts in a row and hopefully 7 wins in a row tonight over Columbus and over mostly all playoff teams Minnesota,Chicago,Columbus,Detroit,Nashville and Minnesota!!
Sports Talk radio in Detroit are complaining about the Wings giving Jimmy Howard a 6 yr contract ....
If they could score, he wouldn't be so bad .....

Jimmy Howard is a very good NHL goalie - that's why the Wings offered him a 6-year contract. The Wings have many larger problems to address on both offensive and defense. I'm just hoping they can make the playoff this year and get the personnel they need in the offseason.

The guys on the radio were upset about the length of contract, thinking the Wings have a tenancy to go out and get a Top Goalie if needed and if that should arise in the next 5 years they would be tied to Howard instead.
I bet the Shoutout strek goes before the winning streak but all streaks come to an end look at the Blackhawks great start to the season and wouldn't surprise me if they do end tonight or definitely Sunday afternoon against Chicago

We're playing good teams this next week...we really could have used 2-points against the Sharks last night.

Shutout streak is now gone. One down and one to go.

Overall it was a good game by both teams. The refs sure didn't do a good job keeping control of the game.

:Not sure what you are talking about but I have never seen a team just going thru the motions in the 5 minutes of OT. I have no problem with the getting a single point for going into OT but I do agree that the OT time could be longer. Then again you would just start seeing people complain that their team is dead on a back to back game because of the previous game going into multiple OT sessions.
