Take it from me, QB controversies will ROT a team faster than anything else.
If that's the case, why experiment now? Especially when they only need 4 games out of a QB? Wouldn't it make more sense to go with the veteran who already knows the receivers? Ie. Charlie Batch?
Honestly, I think they think they are set with Leftwitch.
With the poor O line they have, I can't see Leftwitch surviving.
BTW, you said Charlie was the best QB last night .......
Actually Ben was the best QB last night.
He played very well, moved the team and was calm and collected.
That was THE most stupidest play I have EVER seen a QB make. You wanna do a helmet-to-helmet with a monster linebacker during a preseason game?!

Orton went low (on the ground) to take out his legs, and Harrison bent over and went helmet first into Orton, obviously on purpose, with intent.
How did Orton go helmet to helmet?
Orton should not have tried to make that play in a preseason game, but he is a player.
There is no QB controversy there. Orton is just a plug while Tebow get's the playbook memorized. Once that is done, Orton will have no choice but to be a backup or cut.
When I saw this replay, I think I half expected Suh to be ejected.

That is a play stupid. Hell, even John Lynch who was in the both stated that when defensive players see a QB either trying to block or make a tackle, they salivate because it is their chance to lay a very legal hit on a QB and take him out.
IT IS A STUPID PLAY. Your a starting QB for a possible playoff team....and you are gonna risk your position AND your health to make a tackle IN A PRESEASON GAME??!!
He should've been. That big behemoth basically body slammed Jake by the head! Thank God he didn't get serious hurt.

The Oakland Raiders won't have wide receiver Chaz Schilens(notes) available for a while after he recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.
However, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Antonio Bryant(notes) isn't in the plans.
"We haven't had any of those kind of discussions at this point," Raiders coach Tom Cable told reporters. "Right now, we're more focused on our group."
The Bengals gave up on Bryant Sunday, cutting him after signing him to a four-year, $28 million contract this spring that inluded $7.85 million in guaranteed money.
The Bengals got zero production out of that deal as a knee injury derailed Bryant's prospects with the team as they wound up signing Terrell Owens(notes) as his replacement. So far, the Owens deal looks like a good investment.
Curiously, Bryant passed the Bengals' physical and didn't begin camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Bryant, 29, caught 83 passes for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns two seasons ago with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Last season, Bryant dealt with knee pain after having surgery during training camp and slumped to 39 catches for 600 yards and four touchdowns.

The first football team to nine victories will be the champion of a weak AFC West. There's no reason the Denver Broncos can't be that team.
Playoffs?
Josh McDaniels can get there during his second season as coach in Denver.
It won't take a miracle, although a healthy Ryan Clady would help.
The Broncos know what the NFL world thinks of them: not much. Denver is viewed as little more than a win on the schedule for serious championship contenders.
"Obviously, that motivates us," Broncos receiver Brandon Lloyd said Sunday night, after beating Pittsburgh 34-17 in the only game that really matters on the preseason schedule. "But, at the same time, it's not like we're hanging newspaper clippings in the locker room about how terrible everybody thinks we are. It's fine. It's cool. Once we get between those lines, I think teams will respect us."
The division title is there for the taking by Denver.
San Diego has lost its mojo, Kansas City isn't quite ready for prime time and Oakland remains hopelessly lost in an Al Davis time warp.

Nothing much is expected of the Broncos in 2010, which, in an odd way, passes for progress. A year ago, Denver was believed to be a disaster waiting to happen.
But the beauty of NFL parity means never having to say you're sorry for making the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Ask the Arizona Cardinals or New York Jets of recent vintage.
Denver is still a team discovering how it will win.
"The identity we want to have is a tough team that knows how to finish and get the job done," Ayers said.
Find an identity and the Broncos will find themselves in the playoffs.

And if you go to Oakland, and KC....you will find LOCAL writers stating the same thing.
There is NO DOUBT the West is wide up and I would not be surprised that 9 wind DOES win the division. But to dismiss the two teams that imptoved the most and lose very little to none of the best core players....is just a homer that wants to make sure he gets readers. LOL!
But, hey, everyone at the start of the season is tied for 1st place.
