NFL 2024-2025 Season

The question that has been brought up with the Touchbacks is, Why are you penalizing the team that just scored ?

What do you mean? It's to incentivize returns and disincentivize touchbacks. If a kicker drops the ball between the receiving team's 20 yard line and the goal line it's a live ball and has to be returned. If they kick it out of the end zone then it goes out to the 35. Conceding field position at the 35 because you can't cover or kick is just an indictment of your special teams, not a penalty for the team that just scored.

If your special teams unit typically stops returns at the 35/40 then they can keep blasting it out of the end zone.

Have no problem with the tush push if they allow it's opposite as well, that is, allow defenses to pick up ball runner and carry them back down the field as long as they limit said carries to ,50 yards, only 40 if they slam the ball carrier head first into the ground.

Still thinking over the prospects of allowing firearms on the field of play.

Oh, I agree with you ....
The question was from the NFL reporters on various outlets that are asking .

I don't have a problem with it remaining as-is, especially if banning pushing means you blow the play dead immediately whenever the runner is stopped, instead of when they're tackled.
That's perhaps a tough call to make if players are taking turns yanking the ball carrier downfield.

I don't know if they would stop play at that point or just assess a penalty, like any other play, after the whistle ... guess we'll have to wait and see what they decide.

In Cleveland Haslam pulled the bus out to park it over Watson. And in classic style managed to toss his wife in with accepting some of the blame.

article said:
Team owner Jimmy Haslam used the phrase at Tuesday's NFL owners meetings, via Cleveland.com, adding that fans and media can hold "me and Dee accountable," a reference to his wife and co-owner.

"We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun," Haslam said. "We thought we had the quarterback, we didn't and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we've got to dig ourselves out of that hole. [It] was an entire organization decision, and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable."
I think people mostly heard him accepting the responsibility for the most reckless signing in NFL history... but missed the part where he tosses his wife in there to absorb some of the blame.
