NFL 2009-10 Season

I haven't got to read the NY rags yet. Is Braylon Namath making predictions for a Jet bound Super Bowl? ;) :D

He's not even going to be here next year...you can have him back if you want. :D

The Jets will be looking to seriously upgrade that position in the off-season. Edwards just does not stretch defenses like an elite WR should. The Jets need an elite WR.

Regardless of what happened in the Jets' final two weeks against Indy and Cincy, there were some things they did this year that did impress me:

The NFL's Top-ranked defense (allowed the fewest passing yards and total yards)- this is why they got Rex Ryan.

The league's top-ranked rushing attack (172.2 rushing yards per game)

Thomas Jones, the NFL's #3 rusher (1402 yards, 14 touchdowns)- that trade for him in 2007 is looking like a great one for the Men in Green

A quality offensive line (Faneca and Mangold made the Pro Bowl; D'Brickashaw Ferguson getting better and better)

Darrelle Revis pretty much pwning all WR's (in 16 games this year, he gave up only 1 recieving touchdown)

One irony- The Jets' had the same record as last year- 9-7. Who would have thought Mark Sanchez would get into the playoffs while Brett Favre couldn't?

I can't believe some of you really think Carson Palmer intended to go 1/11 passing for 0 yards in the first half. If they were going to quit in the game they'd have pulled starters in the 1st, not the 3rd.

They also held the Colts to 15 points in 3 quarters and were down by less than a TD, but it's assumed they'd have lost to suit your argument.

It took the entire season to become the #1 rushing and defensive team, not 2 games. I don't care for the jets, but it's pretty clear you guys are just hating on them. I don't think it will be a blowout, but I'm not sure the outcome will be much different in Cincy next week.

Of all the playoff teams, Cincy is the lowest scoring, they average something like 20 points per game, and their first playoff opponent is the number 1 defense in the NFL. It's not a very good combination, especially with Ochocinco going in for an MRI on his knee that he couldnt extend all the way this morning.

HD just likes to bust my bazoombas. It's a Cleveland inferiority thing. :D

Will the Lions win a road game in 2010?

For the second straight year, the Lions did not win a road game.

They have lost 20 concsecutive games away from Motown.

To put this in perspective, the last time they won a road game- October 29, 2007 in Chicago- Sandra, BillD, Anders, and myself were members of DBSForums!

Here is their road schedule next year:

Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

See any road wins on the horizon?

I think Tampa might be their best shot; maybe Buffalo, depending on the roster and coaching changes

hmmm. some good points in your post :up ;):D. if chad is banged up then some trouble will be brewing for the bengals this weekend.i'm not that sure about cincy either............

Looks like Chad will be OK, but they've lost their starting DT with a broken arm or something, he hit IR today.
one thing is for sure, that D isn't the same it was earlier in the season with these injuries. they don't have enough depth to fill in some of these holes.

Fun fact for the day

Besides the Browns, only one other team in NFL history won their final 4 games after starting 1-11. The team, you ask? The 1993 New England Patriots coached by Bill Parcells. They made the playoffs the following year.

You beat me to it, buddy! :up

After the Browns victory yesterday, I meant to post this very stat.

The Patriots under first year coach Bill Parcells, and rookie (and #1 overall pick) Drew Bledsoe, started the season 1-11 and then proceeded to win their last four games. The final game that season, was a 33-27 OT victory over the Dolphins at Foxboro Stadium. That loss eliminated the Dolphins (they would have won the AFC East with a victory), and gave the Bills the division title.

I remember this area was so optimistic following that season! However, 1994 got off to a bad start (3-6). In the Pats tenth game, the Pats trailed the Vikings at home by 23 points at halftime. That's when Drew Bledsoe went nuts and led the Pats back to an OT victory (Bledsoe set an NFL record that day with 70 pass attempts). The victory over the Vikings propelled the Pats to 7 straight wins to finish 10-6, good enough for a playoff berth.

The Parcells led Pats went into Cleveland on New Year's Day for a playoff date with the Browns.

The Browns ended the Pats Cinderella run with a 20-13 victory.

The Browns coach was a Parcells protege by the name of Bill Belichick! :D

You can say the same thing about the Jets after Kris Jenkins went down. Now it looks like LB David Harris, their leading tackler, may not play either. The playoffs are always a battle of attrition...

Sandra

Hey Skyhi, I'm going to wrap up the whole Braylon Edwards scoreboard thing for you:

Cleveland - No playoffs

Braylon Edwards - Playoffs

:D
Sandra
Congrats! How'd Braylon play during the playoff push? :) The Browns sure looked better without him, so it was a win-win situation. :D

Apples to oranges "senorita from Ohio" :)

Here's a better look at the impact...

Browns w/ Braylon: 0-4

Browns w/out Braylon: 5-7

PS, since you were off in paradise with your newly found love, I'll update you. Jim Caldwell and Marvin Lewis had more to do with the Jets making the playoffs than Braylon freaking Edwards. Harumph!!!

I was going to let her enjoy her bliss and not bring that fact up. :)

We don't want him back.......thank you for Jason Trusnik!!
